Bio
Get Dead vocalist Sam King’s graffiti crew were giving tattoos and making flash art to raise money to help folk rapper Ceschi Ramos when he was in prison. Years later they met at the Gilman Street Project in Berkeley, California. They bonded, over their love of hip-hop, punk rock, graffiti & hustling. They didn’t know it yet, but they had just started Codefendants. Impossible to define by traditional standards, Codefendants were forged out of a desire to make an album that sounded like nothing else, so they enlisted Fat Mike to produce and play on a genre-breaking album. They call that sound ‘Crime Wave.’ Since their 2023 debut they’ve recorded Death Row founder The DOC, N8NOFACE, 2Mex, Angelo from Fishbone and Stacey Dee from Bad Cop / Bad Cop and have shared stages with a who’s-who list of punk bands as well as opening for Avenged Sevenfold at the LA Forum. Though Ramos & King are the staple members of the band, they are oftentimes backed live by Venezuelan art punk heroes Zeta or King’s band Get Dead.
