Where do I stay in Gainesville for FEST 19? Will there be an official FEST HOTEL this year?

Is FEST 19 all ages?

What should I bring?

EVERYONE ATTENDING FEST 19 MUST HAVE A VALID ID WITH BIRTHDATE TO GET INTO ANY OF THE VENUES. NO EXCEPTIONS! IF YOU ARE FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY, PLEASE BRING YOUR PASSPORT TO EACH VENUE.

OTHER COUNTRIES’ DRIVER’S LICENSES WILL NOT WORK AT THE VENUES.

If you don’t have a driver’s license, then you must have a legal ID or Passport. College IDs will not work. This is not the ’70s.


What are the venues? And how far are the venues?

All of the venues are within walking distance of each other. Bo Diddley Plaza, The Atlantic, The Wooly, Knockin’ Boots Saloon, CMC, Downtown Fats, Boca Fiesta/Palomino, The Hippodrome, Durty Nelly’s, and Loosey’s are all in a four block radius. These are all walking blocks. Gainesville has a very small downtown. Mother’s Pub is on your walk to downtown from the Holiday Inn. CMC is south on Main Street.


Are FEST venues handicap accessible?

All the venues in Gainesville are ADA compliant, however many are small capacity and one level, so viewing may be obstructed.

Bo Diddley Plaza is our largest venue and does have a raised up area for better viewing. FEST does not provide wheelchairs or walkers so please bring what you need. For more specific information please contact each venue to get a better understanding of their layout.


How do I get there? Rental cars? Flights? Greyhound?

The Gainesville Regional Airport is a quick cab ride to downtown. They use Atlanta, Miami, and Charlotte as hubs but now go direct to Dallas, TX. DELTA and AMERICAN are their carriers. Sometimes it is actually cheaper to fly direct into Gainesville rather than travel from Jacksonville, Tampa, or Orlando. GNV airport also has car rentals available!

We have secured a charter bus company to help you FEST folk get home after FEST 19! The bus will pick up attendees at the Holiday Inn on Monday November 2nd and drive straight to Orlando International Airport. Bus seats can be purchased in the web store on the ticket page.

Also, check out Megabus. It runs from Atlanta and Orlando to Gainesville now! Super cheap, clean and they have Wi-Fi.

Gainesville also has a Greyhound station that is in walking distance from downtown or a short cab ride.

There is also an Enterprise Rental Car office near the Holiday Inn University Center on University Ave.


Can I buy a FEST 19 PASS for just one day?

Nope. However, some showcases will have an individual ticket price that allows you to just pay to attend that show only instead of having to buy a three day pass to FEST 19. These tickets will be limited to 10% of the capacity of the venue and can be purchased in advance once the schedule goes up. This usually happens in JULY 2020. Please follow us on social media to get updated as we get closer.


Can I buy tickets for an individual show in advance?

Depends. See above! When we do, we sell 10% of the venues capacity, but for the smaller venues we don’t pre-sell individual tickets or walk up tickets for. Check back when the schedule of showcases are announced in JULY 2020.


Are you full? Can my band play?

WE ARE FULL!!!! Please do not ask us to play. I repeat, please do not ask us to play. I get way too many emails so if you did not get a reply back about your request it is just because there is not enough time in the day to email everyone back. Thanks for understanding. Time saved = More time to plan FEST 19.


What are the drinking laws?

21 and up can drink at the venues. You can not drink on the street anywhere in Gainesville.

Package liquor can be purchased between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., packaged beer and wine may be sold between 7 a.m. and 2 a.m., any day of the week, and beer, wine and drinks at a bar can be purchased between 7 a.m. and 2 a.m.

All that info will be stashed in your official FEST 19 guidebook. We will also be updating the LOCAL EATS section of the site as information becomes available.


How do I become a FEST 19 sponsor or take out an ad in the Official Guidebook?

How can I help promote FEST 19?

We can always use help in promotion, and here are two great ways that you can help us spread the word about FEST 19.

1). You can email streetteam@thefestfl.com with your full contact info and mailing address. We will send you FEST promotional posters and postcards to help spread the word once they are printed. Usually in the summer. Please let us know how many of each you would like as well as where you plan to put them up at.

2) Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You will get updates and can help us spread the word to your friends that way. UP THE RTs!


Can I be an official FEST 19 Photographer / Videographer?

How can I volunteer for FEST 19 to get a free pass?

If you live in the Gainesville area or if you have moved away from Gainesville and volunteered for FEST/ PRE-FEST before and did a good job in the past we would love your help making FEST 19 awesome!

THE FEST is looking for kickass, friendly and serious volunteers. Volunteers are always needed to help run Fest. We offer a free pass to anyone who works a shift the weekend of. You will also get a shirt that no one else can buy. A shift runs about 8-10 hours and is anything from working registration, the door, helping bands load equipment, barricade, stage security or being stage manager.

Volunteer signup meetings are on the VOLUNTEER PAGE. We will have sign up/informative meetings in Gainesville. If you would like to stay in the loop when these sign up/information meetings will be held or have any questions, please email your full contact info to: thefestvol@gmail.com


Can I table or distro at FEST 19?

We will be holding THE FEST FLEA MARKET at FEST 19 Registration at the WYNDHAM GARDEN GAINESVILLE on October 30, 2020. It will be set up in the same area as registration, so you will have everyone who attends/plays/volunteers passing through your area. Please click here for more information.


What is the refund policy for FEST 19?

In light of recent financial hardships many have faced in the days of us all dealing with the spread of COVID-19 we want to assure you that we will be granting refunds to anyone who needs a refund for FEST 19 passes you purchased. Full refunds for passes, minus processing fees, will be offered until October 1st, 2020.

After October 1st- Refunds or credit will be only be issued if there is a travel ban or governing orders to cancel the event (see below for options due to COVID-19) We do understand that certain other situations will occur so please contact Sara (festsarasvati@gmail.com) to inquire about a refund or name change on your pass order.

Due to a recent change from our credit card processing company- ALL refunds will be processed and returned to the original payment method minus 3.25% credit card processing fee for domestic orders and a 5% credit card processing fee for international orders. We will also not be able to refund the ticket fee from Limitedrun.com ($2/ticket) or the donation to GRACE MARKETPLACE ($1/ticket).

WHAT IF FEST 19 CAN NOT HAPPEN DUE TO COVID-19 ISSUES?

IF we are not able to have FEST 19 in the fall of 2020 we will postpone FEST 19 to fall of 2021. If you booked a FEST 19 pass you will have the following options. Please be patient with the refund process since we have to do each order by hand.

PASS REFUND to the original payment method minus 3.25% credit card processing fee for domestic orders and a 5% credit card processing fee for international orders. We will also not be able to refund the ticket fee from Limitedrun.com ($2/ticket) or the donation to GRACE MARKETPLACE ($1/ticket).

PASS FOR POSTPONED DATE: Your pass will be good for the postponed new FEST 19 date of fall of 2021. Will most likely be the same weekend, just one year later.

DONATE your pass to someone else to use for the postponed new FEST 19 date of fall of 2021. We will change the name on your pass with no name change fee OR you can donate the money to FEST to help cover the many costs we will potentially lose on not being able to do the event in 2020.

MERCH REFUNDS: If you order merch and face the issue that you can no longer come we will refund your FEST 19 pass but we will have to keep the money for the merch items ordered and we will ship you the items you ordered. You will have to pay any additional shipping costs to mail the items but it will be ~3 weeks after FEST 19. Again, you will also be responsible for paying for shipping.

If we are not able to do FEST 19 due to Covid-19 concerns and you ordered merch here is how it will go down. If you ordered merch that we currently have in stock then we will contact you to figure out how to collect any additional shipping costs to mail the items to you. If it is an item that we do not have in stock then we will refund you to the original payment method minus 3.25% credit card processing fee for domestic orders and a 5% credit card processing fee for international orders. If you would like your order to stay in the system we can do that and you would pick up your merch you ordered on the postponed FEST 19 date.

KEEP IN MIND THAT WE HAVE TO PROCESS REFUNDS BY HAND SO IT TAKES A FEW DAYS TO PROCESS AND THAT YOUR REFUND WILL GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL PAYMENT METHOD. THIS MAY TAKE UP TO 14 DAYS FOR THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY TO REFLECT YOUR CREDIT TO YOUR ACCOUNT.

IF YOU WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO REQUEST A REFUND OR NAME CHANGE YOU WILL BE ONE OF THE MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE WAITED UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL TO READ THE AUTO RESPONDER INFO YOU WILL GET KICKED BACK BEFORE FREAKING OUT OR EMAILING AGAIN. ANY REQUEST MADE AFTER October 24th, 2020 YOU ARE RISKING THE CHANCE IT WILL NOT BE PROCESSED IN TIME FOR REGISTRATION. WE DO UNDERSTAND THAT CERTAIN SITUATIONS COULD COME UP LAST MINUTE THAT COULD HINDER YOU FROM COMING. IF YOU HAVE THIS SITUATION PLEASE EMAIL AND WE HOPEFULLY WILL BE ABLE TO PROCESS YOUR REQUEST IN TIME.

If you miss registration check in, you will NOT be able to pick up your info or wristbands at the venues.

Hotel Room Cancellations:
  • Before September 1st, 2020: Full Refund minus credit card fees (see below)
  • September 2nd – October 4th, 2020 : 50% Refund minus credit card fees (see below)
  • October 5th – October 29th, 2020: NO REFUNDS AVAILABLE BUT YOU CAN CHANGE THE NAME ON YOUR RESERVATION FOR A $20 FEE.

How many people can stay in one room?

HOLIDAY INN UNIVERSITY: Each room booking will receive up to (4) Holiday Inn wristbands at check-in. These will allow you to enter the Hotel after FEST hours. This saves time so you do not have to check back in at the front desk each time. It also keeps unwanted people raging at your hotel.

ALL OTHER HOTELS: (4) GUESTS for a DOUBLE, (2) GUESTS for a KING/SINGLE BED ROOM.


When I book a HOTEL ROOM through this site, is my card charged then or when I check in?

When booking a hotel room on the FEST website, the credit card used will be charged immediately upon placing the order. You will have to leave a credit card or cash deposit at the front desk for incidentals. Check THE FEST HOTELS PAGE for a breakdown on each hotel option.


What is the age cutoff to purchase a ticket for children?

All children age 5 and younger are allowed inside Bo Diddley Plaza without having to purchase a ticket.
