Hailing from the humble heavy music scene of Savannah, GA, The Holy Ghost Tabernacle Choir set out with a DIY ethos, forward mentality, and an unrelenting drive. The group pride themselves on carrying cornerstone values of acceptance, social recourse, equality, and radical empathy as their guiding lights. They want to show that heavy outsider music is for everyone. Devoted to using their platform to spread awareness however they can, they are strong advocates of LGBTQ+ rights, racial equality, justice for survivors of abuse, and representation of society’s outcasts and marginalized communities. Musically, they channel a blend of sounds that are swatched from the palettes of 90s screamo, mathcore, and post-hardcore in a way that turns a flair for the nostalgic on its head. Their abrasiveness and energy has garnered comparisons to The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Locust, and The Jesus Lizard among others. Live performance is one of the most important things to THGTC. As of the end of 2023, they have toured in 34 states in the US, and they are still pushing themselves into new territory. Rapidly gaining buzz and revere as an underground powerhouse, their frenetic performances and high octane music will make any show of theirs one worth attending and one that will leave a lasting impression.
