Bio
“Chinese Telephones is the soundtrack to a sweaty house-party basement show in Any town, USA. It’s got the get-up-and-go of a youth anthem fight song for the fist-pumpers, the pogo power for the pop punkers, the heartache in the slowdown for the heartsick, and the undeniable catchiness in the hooks that brings it all together for everyone to come together, sweat together and hug it out in the pit.”-some review I can’t find to credit. Or something It’s Alive wrote for promo.
Chi-Tels released a handful of 7”s/splits and one full length and toured quite a bit between 2004-2008 then broke up. They reunited in 2010 and did a couple tours over a couple years but no new material came of it. In late 2019, they decided to start playing and writing regularly again with new drummer Logan Stang, but that was delayed, of course, due to the coronavirus. At the end of 2023, just when everyone had given up hope of ever hearing anything new from the band again, a new 4-song EP, ‘Outta My Hands,’ was split-released by Dead Broke Rekerds/ Bloated Kat Records. It was everything the world (a very small segment of it) had been waiting for, minus about 8 songs. “Wow. If you like super catchy garage/power pop music, this will light you right up. Makes me think of GENTLEMAN JESSE, MYSTERY DATE, and SONIC AVENUES.”-MRR. They’re currently in the process of writing a new full length (at a glacial pace) and they just might play you a couple of those new tunes at The Fest 23.
