Sam Russo

Long defined by his singular voice and quietly defiant songwriting, Russo has spent years carving his own path through punk and alt-folk without chasing trends or easy labels. His latest album, Hold You Hard (Red Scare Industries), expands his sound while exploring distance, desire, and dislocation through imagery spanning the wheat fields of East Anglia to the faded romance of American coastlines.

Fest holds a special place in Russo’s heart. Travelling from England to Gainesville each year, this appearance marks his fifth time playing the festival, a connection that runs through the record itself: from the raucous opener ‘Gator Lodge’ to its haunting closer inspired by nearby High Springs, Fest was a wellspring of inspiration for his fourth full-length.

Since emerging from UK house shows in 2007, Russo has built a loyal following through relentless touring and word of mouth, sharing stages with Tim Barry, The Lawrence Arms, Lucero, and Dan Andriano of Alkaline Trio. Whether performing solo or backed by a full band, he remains a vital presence in modern punk songwriting: raw, reflective, and increasingly impossible to overlook.
