Baltimore native Matt Pless has been making a sustained impression on music fans and has released seven albums including his newest, Water Sign Language (2026), which should steer him further into the mainstream.
After a stint in NYC playing the streets, subways, and becoming a part of the Sidewalk Café scene in the East Village, Pless embarked on a 3-plus-year touring schedule, crossing the U.S. five times and releasing Tumbleweed, an album that sold more than 2000 copies out of his car and at shows. He shared the DIY underground with names like Days n Daze, Kimya Dawson, and Jeffrey Lewis, and the mainstream stage with Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie and Southern Culture on the Skids. He has toured in the U.S., Canada and U.K. and Europe.
Matt Pless is the perfect example of a modern-day folk singer, as he has put his words to the test and his actions behind them. His wide appeal to listeners from 5 – 95 makes him a fan favorite.
