Legitimate Business

New Jersey
Listen to “Legitimate Business - 80 on 80”

In 1999, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater revolutionized gaming. A breakthrough in extreme sports’ popularity, it featured an 11 song soundtrack filled with some of the most popular bands of the punk, hardcore, alternative, and third wave ska scenes.

Legitimate Business was not one of those bands.

However, 7 years later, they were one of the only unsigned bands who were featured on Tony Hawk’s Project 8, playing “80 on 80,” a 3rd wave ska throwback well after the wave had crashed and before ska became the theme music of America’s Funniest Home Videos.

In a few years, Legitimate Business self-released an EP, lost their horn section, self-released their sole full-length record, First World Problems, and played with a lot of bands who have been to Fest. They broke up at some point in 2010. Now they’re old and playing some of the songs a surprising number of people not from northern NJ still seem to enjoy.
