Coalescing around the songwriting partnership of Joey Johnson and Sam Kuhns, Leg Biters is a progressive punk band founded in Gainesville, Florida in 2017 with roots in the midwest and on Florida’s Space Coast. A revolving door of members populated the rhythm section for the first six years of the band’s existence as the creative core of Johnson and Kuhns set about chronicling their day-to-day lives in a series of home-recorded DIY releases, as well as playing all over the southeast United States. Drummer Tobin Wagstaff rounded out the band’s sound in 2023, followed two years later by bassist Ash Magarelli, breathing new life into the group and its work and bringing with them a refreshing and virtuosic dynamic that has pushed the music of Leg Biters to new heights.
Now, with a laserbeam focus on songcraft and a strong desire to transcend the limitations and tropes usually associated with their genre, Leg Biters have built their own studio and hunkered down to create their debut recordings with this reinvigorated line-up, coming soon on Bony Orbit Records.
