La Versión Extendida de las Cosas is a Costa Rican band characterized by a melodic, sincere, and catchy sound. Founded by vocalist and guitarist Calvo, the project began with a collection of songs deeply rooted in alternative, punk, emo, and indie influences. Following the 2014 release of their self-titled debut album, the group solidified its definitive lineup with Camilo Agüero, Daniel Agüero, and Carlos Sandoval, quickly becoming a staple of the regional independent scene.
The band’s career is marked by significant international recognition, including winning Best New Artist from Costa Rica at the MIN Independent Music Awards in Spain (2015) and an ACAM Award for Best Punk Album in 2024 for their record, Rituales Modernos. Their trajectory includes powerful live performances alongside renowned acts such as Porter, Tigers Jaw, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, and Citizen, as well as filming the music video for their single “Viernes” on location in Bogotá, Colombia.
A defining moment for the band has been their involvement in Transitarte, one of the most prestigious art festivals in San José. After celebrating their 10th anniversary on the Transitarte stage in 2024, the band was confirmed for a second time in the festival’s 2026 lineup. This return to one of Costa Rica’s most important cultural events served as the perfect platform to present their newest single, “Collie.”
Following the success of Rituales Modernos (2023), the band performed at Fest 21 alongside bands like Descendents, Sparta, and Braid. The band also embarked on their first extensive tour in Florida, US. During this run, they shared the stage and the road with a diverse group of international talent, including Burnt Tapes, Amends, FJØRT, Eat Defeat, and Jaguero.
Looking ahead, 2026 continues to be a great year as the band prepares another brand-new single and begins production on their next full-length album. In keeping with their independent spirit, the upcoming record will be entirely self-produced at Calvo’s recording studio. This year also marks an exciting milestone as the band confirms their return to the stage at Fest 24. In addition to their international plans, the band has been selected as the official opening act for Sparta during their highly anticipated show in Costa Rica.
