Dead Selves are the band your older sister shows you on her first weekend back from college. Formed after a Chris Farren/Laura Stevenson show in 2016 and touring since the release of 2018’s Enjoy the Eclipse!, if you’ve heard of them at all it’s as Atlanta’s favorite weeknight opener or as the flippers of ten thousand pancakes for touring acts from all over (or for their big fluffy samoyed Bear, who’s appeared in the instagram stories of all your favorite FEST bands).
Singer/songwriter Zack Fowler (they/them) fronts drummer Amy Cadence (she/they) and bassist Claire Darling (she/her) for blistering sets of hooky, lyrical punk songs from their two-and-change albums of bookish political and intrapersonal dramatics. They are scrambling to release the Copperhead EP in time for FEST this year, and their third LP is expected in 2027. This band wouldn’t exist if their singer hadn’t been invited to FEST in 2014, so they are thrilled to play it for the first time this year. They expect to keep playing forever.
