Hey Everyone,
We are sad as sad can be today to announce that it is true, Dead to Me have to cancel FEST 7. They were super cool and called me this weekend on speaker phone and expressed how bummed they were to not being here. It was a very big blow since I not only personally love Dead to Me’s music but equally if not more so LOVE them as people. They are like the cousin’s you get to see once a year at he family reunion that you are so excited to see and get in trouble with. They will be missed and we will have to pour a little out in their absence. You can read below what they have had to say:
I have no word yet on who’ll take their place since it is so last minute but looking into some good friends. I will keep you posted.
To see why we would miss these boys so much check out a song from their performance last year over at Nationalunderground.com. Chicken’s true love for THE FEST still makes be tear up a bit . I think I should just have that for the intro to the guidebook this year!!!
Bummer,
Tony Weinbender and the FEST 7 crew
Here ya go folks,
Two weeks away so to make everyone happy and bummed at the same time we present to you the official FEST 7 schedule!!!

Can’t wait to see you all here soon!

-Tony Weinbender and the FEST 7 crew!
We finally listened to all the application bands and I have to say this was the hardest and most rewarding parts of FEST 7. Lots of people told me previous years and even more so this year that I should scale this year back. Many have said that there is no reason to have so many bands. “Do you honestly think that having these 40 or so extra bands from the applications are gonna help with the draw of the FEST?” That is not what the FEST is about. It is about giving bands a chance. Everyone starts somewhere and out of all the applications that came in we picked these bands.

We have done everything we can to make enough room for all these bands. We kept places open longer, make Gainesville work harder, I have to pay more money for the clubs to stay open. So, why? Why add all these extra bands, why add all the extra hassle? It is about supping the love and my craving to support the new blood. If we can make room we will and this year shows more than ever. I wish we could have had even more and tried our best to accommodate but this is the best we can do this time and I think it is pretty impressive for our little town.
There is lots of planning and plotting on the message board about house parties and such held during FEST 7 weekend here in Gainesville. I think it is a rad idea especially since it is one less thing we don’t have to plan and deal with. I do ask though if you are thinking about having one look out for bands who are NOT playing FEST 7 and also respect your area because upsetting the city FEST weekend ends up ultimately coming back on us being able to host this event years to come.
As for all you FEST 7 bands that have been accepted I ask that you take a knee and let bands who are NOT officially playing the FEST play the parties, the house shows etc. This is not like other FESTIVALS. Enjoy your time and the time you get to spend with all your friends. Fuck, go to the house shows and see some new bands. You don’t need to play more. Some of you are playing pre-fests and hell, I would go to them if I could. But honestly, you are getting to play the best fucking festival ever. That should be enough. But it is up to you what you do. This is just a suggestion from someone who has put lots of time, love and labor into this.

There are only so many places we can officially have shows for FEST 7 and we recently lost some stages that were going to be on the campus of UF. Speaking of UF, I heard that they might be having Minus The Bear play from FREE on campus Sunday night of FEST 7. This is something they are planning so when they give us more details we will help them spread the word.
If anyone is interested in helping us spread the word about FEST 7 we have posters and flyers we can send you. Please hook up with our Street Team –The Southern Lovin’ Hustlers or email ryanm@noidearecords.com with your address and how many you could use.
We also have this killer web banner:

Go to the FEST Myspace page to be our friend and get code to steal the banner!
I guess that is about it for now. Gainesville is feeling good these days. FEST is in the air and we are all burning the midnight oil to make sure the party time is ready for you all!!!

Hey Everyone,
I had the honor to chill on the FEST/ Southern Lovin’ porch and chat it up with Issue Oriented (the official FEST 7 Podcast Sponsor). Welcome one and all to THE FEST 7!!! As you can see we finally got our act together and got the site up and running. At this moment I would like to thank the fine folks of Horsebites and Team Doom for the sleek and sick look of FEST 7. This is gonna be a freakin’ doozie of a year. For one THE FEST 7 has landed on Halloween Weekend!!! I am sure it will add to the debaucherous grand times we have planned for you all. I’m really excited this year because we have talked more people into letting us have shows this year. New venues, new faces, new bands. This is what it is all about.
As for big acts this year we not only are flying over one of Gainesville’s favorites, Leatherface!!! It only took a few years, a few cold ones in Austin, and the promise of all you crazies freakin’ out!!!!
To add to the celebration we have asked FEST alumni and good buddies the Bouncing Souls to play a special Halloween FEST 7 set. Here is what they had to say:
“2009 is the 20th anniversary of The Bouncing Souls!! We’re getting ready to celebrate all year long… and just in time to get the party started is THE FEST!! We’re thinking “kick-off party” on this one!! What better place than the city of Gainesville to get it started? and what better people than our good friends in Strike Anywhere, Less Than Jake, and the No Idea family? And what better day than Halloween, our favorite holiday for a show? You never know what costumes and themes we might come up with!!!! And like any Souls party, we’ll drink a lot of cheap beer (maybe even 40’s only??) and re-live the embarrassing moments of our youth… by playing songs from 1995 and earlier! That’s right… The Good, The Bad, and The Argyle and Maniacal Laughter and maybe even a Green Ball Crew if the mood is right and the beer is wrong. Come party with us!”
So that lets a little cat out of his bag for ya!
In other crazy news Atom has reconciled with long time friend and band mate THE PACKAGE and you all get to celebrate this joyous reunion at FEST 7 along with Ann Beretta playing their final show ever. We somehow convinced Coalesce to come witness the insanity as well as the return to the world of None More Black. But the good times do not stop there when you count in the rare performances by the fine folks in Armalite, Abel Baker Fox, Chris Wollard and the Ship Thieves, Drag the River, The Holy Mountain and Assholeparade!!!
We are happy to say that the HOLIDAY INN will once again be the official party down headquarters and will host THE FEST 7 registration and the FEST FLEA MARKET. Despite the idiots that almost ruined all our good times last year they are opening their arms to us all once again. This time they got their act together and will have real deal security so guest can party without being bummed by the bums that invaded last year. We will have the flea market/trade show/label expo thingy in their conference room again, and weather permitting we are going to have a rooftop pool side reception on Friday afternoon for all the guests. Oh, and they have rooms to sleep in (if you need that kinda stuff). So bring your swimmies, good vibes, and cold ones for the FEST 7 HALLOWEEN SPRING BREAK PARTY TIME EXCELLENT!!!
If you are looking for a more relaxed environment to rest your weary head we have the EXECUTIVE FEST HOTEL. This will be at the Paramount. It is super swanky and chills on a lake. Real nice stuff but no party time excellent there. So if you are tired of the apeshit and need to re-charge this is totally the way to go.
We are still working through all the band applications and there are a ton. Problem is most of them kick ass!!! So, we will slowly be adding bands in to our list so check back frequently, we will remind ya as well with myspace updates. Schedule is a pain in the ass each year so be patient and I will try my best to at least get down who is playing on what day in a few weeks. If you have applied hold tight and we will let you know by Sept 10th. Please do not email, text, call, myspace, or telegram us about this. The more time it takes to check these messages the less time we have to plot and plan.
If you want to help us spread the word of FEST 7 you can download the FEST 7 flyer or become a member of the Southern Lovin’ Hustlers and we can send you posters and flyers to sling up around your town.
For now enjoy counting down the days to debauchery, start training your livers, practicing your stage dives, start your beards, and in October we get to join forces in lovely Gainesville, FL again!
Endless Cheers,
Tony Weinbender/ THE FEST CREW/ NO IDEA RECORDS FOOLS
Ps: here is your public service announcement for FEST 7. If you are not planning on buying a FEST 7 ticket please do not come and invade our friendly environment. There are already enough people here who like to celebrate good times and last year there were some folks who thought that this was some kinda rainbow gathering. Also, leave your dogs at home!!! I love dogs. Got a sweetheart of a pitbull at home. You know what she does not like. Loud music. Your dog does not either.
