Dirty Tactics

Philadelphia’s own Dirty Tactics have been steadily gaining notoriety as one of the most exciting, up and coming, young bands. Known for catchy melodies and sing along choruses that maintain pop sensibility but offer the intensity and vigor only seen in the punk rock underground. As the band grows, a much more obscure approach to the music has been evident. When combined with the lyrical content, and the cleaner twang of the guitars, the band falls into a unique category of music that is hard to find in recent years. When listening, the roots of punk and rock and roll are obvious but confining them to either genre would not do their sound justice. The band has maintained the values and ethos of the punk rock scene, but has evolved its sound into something they can call their own.

After extensively touring the US throughout 2006, including stops on the Vans Warped tour and and East Coast tour with punk legends, The Angry Samoans, the band finally recorded its first full length album.

“Love is Dead, Art is War”, was released on the Underground Cities label, quickly followed by another full U.S. tour with Cobra Skulls throughout the summer of 2007.

On the bands latest release, the “Gangster Stamina” EP, a mature sense of angst is felt in the evolving sound of the band. While their earlier influences of The Clash and The Replacements are still obvious, the obscurity of The Pixies and Hot Snakes have also become evident. This new outlook for the band was showcased throughout a full US tour with The Hollowpoints and a European tour supporting Ontario’s power pop trio Statues.

Hard work and determination are what keeps the band going. Touring extensively throughout the US and Europe has kept the band motivated and inspired enough to record a new full length which will be accompanied by a film about the bands travels and will hopefully see the light of day sometime in 2009.
