Larry and His Flask
From their humble roots smack dab in the middle of the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Redmond, Oregon's Larry and His Flask have been creating quite the name for themselves over the past 10 years. Founded by brothers Jeshua (stand-up bass/baritone) and Jamin Marshall (drums/vocals) in 2003, the band went through numerous incarnations and members before finally settling on their current 5 member line-up and signature brand of rock 'n' roll. Alongside the Marshall brothers, Ian Cook (electric guitar/lead vocals), Andrew Carew (banjo/trombone/vocals) and Dallin Bulkley (acoustic guitar/vocals) incorporate various facets of folk, punk, gypsy jazz, bluegrass, soul and brass band to create a richly talented, uproarious, foot-stomping, ass-slapping good time for everyone listening.
What truly sets Larry and His Flask apart from any other band touring today is their unbelievable live show. Performances see members careening wildly across the stage with instruments, narrowly avoiding harrowing collisions amongst themselves and frequently trading said instruments mid-song
while still maintaining pitch-perfect 4-part harmonies. They've even managed to catch the attention of the New York Times who listed them as one of the best shows of 2011, calling the band live "a breathless, polymorphous good time."
With as much as Larry and His Flask have toured since their inception, the praise was hard-earned and well-deserved. They have toured the US and Canada from coast to coast several times over as well as playing in Alaska, Yukon Territory, Hawaii and Europe, and this year brings the promise of their first world tour. The band has shared the stage with a cast of bands as diverse as Descendents, Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, Streetlight Manifesto, Lucero, Dropkick Murphys, Andre Williams, Blackalicious and Wanda Jackson.
Their diverse and complex influences come shining through on their debut full-length, 2011's All That We Know on Silver Sprocket Bicycle Club. In 2012, Larry and His Flask released the critically acclaimed Hobo's Lament EP, and 2013 brings a brand-new full length, By the Lamplight, slated for a June 25th release by the band on their own Cascadian Records, in conjunction with Silver Sprocket Bicycle Club in the US and X-tra Mile Recordings in Europe.
From street corners to barns, from squats to coffee shops, from dive bars to international festivals, Larry and His Flask continue to bring their own brand of rock 'n' roll to the people. They strive to make sure that no one in the audience misses out on the fun. So if they happen to be in your state, province or even your country, do yourself a favor and check them out!
