Now why don't you go find yourself a forum where you can tell some people of color they're taking White Power bands and their lyrics about lynching too literally. I'm not going to get into a prolonged argument about it, so this is the last I will say on the matter, especially as it's going very much off topic. I just think it's important to make a couple of points, in case anyone who hadn't seen The Dwarves before was thinking of going to see them but got put off from your comments. Firstly, as I mentioned before the lyrics are quite obviously not written as a guide for how to live your life. If the bands persona doesn't come across on record, it certainly will if you watch them live or read interviews. I have seen them a few times and each time there has been a disproportionately high number of females in the audience compared to other punk shows. I have never witnessed anyone feeling uncomfortable or acting like a dick towards others and (needless to say) I'm sure nothing like this will happen at their Fest show I noticed when they were announced, Ryan from Off With Their Heads and Franz Nicolay both tweeted about being excited to see them on the Fest line-up. Todd Congelliere has released Dwarves records on his record label, as has Mike Park - 2 people who I'm sure wouldn't go anywhere near a band they considered to be sexist. Bands like Naked Raygun, Bouncing Souls, Dan Vapid etc... have all toured with The Dwarves. I think we can agree that not everybody is going to like them and they obviously do offend a fair few people but it's not as if they are in anyway alienated from The Fest scene. If you are really going to criticise the Fest organizers for putting them on & people for going to see them, then you might want to take a look at some of the bands you will be watching next weekend and see how many of them have toured with, helped out, covered songs by, or are just simply fans of the band. I think you'll be surprised.

I love the dwarves and I'm definitely not sexist. I can prove it; I'm even friends with some women.

Okay.... my thoughts on this:
1. The Dwarves fucking rule! I don't care who you are. One of the best punk bands ever. Blag Dahlia wrote "Do The Sponge" for Spongebob Squarepants for Christ's sake!
2. The "don't get dinosaur bands" is dumb idea. A majority of them are the main draw for Fest. Hence, cash flow.
3. You know what people would benefit the most from these passes? People coming from outside the U.S. They deserve it the most.
4. If this means helping out Tony so that way he and the others that put this on get paid, that's fine with me. Remember, Tony once said that when Fest finally becomes unprofitable, as in they' take a loss in money, it'll be the last Fest. So enjoy this one, kids. This could be the last one then.
5. If there's any left at registration, I'm totally buying one. I don't care. I might not be able to use it, but it helps the Fest organizers out.

There are 100s of amazing bands playing The Fest and The Dwarves are amongst the very best. Not really sure why you would be disappointed to see a band you're not a fan of being added to the line-up, you don't have to watch them! If they offend you then I guess you're probably taking them (just a little bit!) too literally I knew someone was going to say I was wrong to be offended. There is neither enough face nor palm… Let's take a looksee at the lyrics "Old enough to bleed.. Let's fuck" I started menstruating at 11. Am I wrong to be offended by a band that humorizes and, possibly, encourages pedophilia? I don't think so. Oh, and that gem about "there's rope and duct tape in the trunk." Yeah, as a woman I totally feel comfortable being near people who glorify a band that makes what can be construed as references to rape in their lyrics. Awesome. I love Fest to death, but its sucks to see organizers and attenders embrace a group that spews this kind of anti-woman filth. Now why don't you go find yourself a forum where you can tell some people of color they're taking White Power bands and their lyrics about lynching too literally. I kind of hate to keep this thread veer going, but I'm asking an honest question here, and am truly curious to hear your point of view _ellison. Do you know Masked Intruder (playing Durty Nelly's on Sunday)? If so, is your opinion of that band the same as your view of The Dwarves? I'm not familiar with The Dwarves material at all, so I don't have a horse in that race, but would be interested on your take on Masked Intruder based on your Dwarves comments. Thank you in advance, jeremy

I'm a progressive which means I support death panels for grandma & grandpa if it means more money left over for for my communist agenda (which includes destroying America, interracial dancing, & the #666). I mistook the message board with my spot on Obama's Death panel. Is it just me or does pastor Terry Jones look like a skinny version of Paul Sr from American Chopper?

This thread is ruining my Fest. Also, most of the posters in this thread are probably the reason why I kind of dislike Fest now. I wish we could go back to having fun and not being uptight anuses about everything.
