So sad that people are actually having second thoughts about buying a VIP pass because of the insults/threats that idiots have been making! Sad to see bullying on these boards & Facebook, thought festers were better than that

It seems like there is an underlying negativity at the Fest this year. I have a bad feeling that something will go down at some point.

I'm hoping it's sarcasm? Or one of those songs that's for something because the lyricist is really against it, like Oingo Boingo's "Little Girls"? It's my understanding The Dwarves are in that "shocktainment" vein similar to G.G. Allin. They've got another song about, "Let's get drunk and fuck some sluts." As a female Fest-goer, I was disappointed when I saw them on the line-up.

i was at the crossroads of buying or not the vip pass, but im going to have to pass on it.
Like someone else said, It could have been a better idea of a special/after show with a separate ticket. I wouldn't mind buying a different ticket for the Holiday Inn secret show and helping Fest organizers.

_ellison wrote: It's my understanding The Dwarves are in that "shocktainment" vein similar to G.G. Allin." Based on what I saw in two back-to-back performances about twenty years ago, that's about as good an assessment as any. _ellison wrote: As a female Fest-goer, I was disappointed when I saw them on the line-up. Then I guess it's a good thing that The Mentors aren't available to play Fest....

Not really sure why you would be disappointed to see a band you're not a fan of being added to the line-up, you don't have to watch them! If they offend you then I guess you're probably taking them (just a little bit!) too literally

Maybe I missed something, but I am yet to see a single genuine threat, only sarcastic remarks and people having a discussion about something they disagree on?

If they offend you then I guess you're probably taking them (just a little bit!) too literally I knew someone was going to say I was wrong to be offended. There is neither enough face nor palm… Let's take a looksee at the lyrics "Old enough to bleed.. Let's fuck" I started menstruating at 11. Am I wrong to be offended by a band that humorizes and, possibly, encourages pedophilia? I don't think so. Oh, and that gem about "there's rope and duct tape in the trunk." Yeah, as a woman I totally feel comfortable being near people who glorify a band that makes what can be construed as references to rape in their lyrics. Awesome. I love Fest to death, but its sucks to see organizers and attenders embrace a group that spews this kind of anti-woman filth. Now why don't you go find yourself a forum where you can tell some people of color they're taking White Power bands and their lyrics about lynching too literally.

I can totally see being "put off" by the Dwarves... If your work place is anything like mine you hear guys say fucked up shit all week, but it's supposedly OK because they are "joking", & if you don't get the joke, then you are just being "sensitive" or a "bitch". After listening to that shit all week/year I would imagine hearing a punk band with lyrics written by your Republican coworkers to be the last thing you'd want to hear.

larryarms wrote: Also if somebody buys a VIP pass and feels bad using it.. why not try to find someone who could really us. Example anyone on crutches, any pregnant females.. I know they are few and far between but always tends to be some every year. Just saying. They could really probably use it. These are REALLY, really good ideas! Also, if anyone is really making threats over this or people are legitimately worried about being harassed by someone because they have a special wristband that allows them to skip lines... both are way, WAY overreacting. As I said before, press and photo passes allow this too, and I have never snarked or looked at a person wrong for being able to skip a line at Fest. Don't worry so much Threats are just... well... not enough face or palm for that either.

I would buy one in a heartbeat if my roommate could afford one. We're driving really far and knowing we could see the bands we want would be awesome.
