This will be the 3rd year Self Aware Records will have had a table, looking forward to all of you rifling through the distro. The distro has grown exponentially, as has the label, since last Fest. Check out the distro online, and there will be a LOT more added in the next two months. http://selfawarerecords.storenvy.comWe are splitting our space with Bitter Melody Records, a fellow NC label that we are releasing a couple releases with this year. I hope you will come by and visit us and check out the newest release by Old Flings (Asheville, NC- features members of Just Die!- ffo Samiam, Texas is the Reason, Gin Blossoms). We are coreleasing their debut LP, "Spite", and if all goes well we will have copies at Fest 11. Check out the preorders (limited red vinyl): http://selfawarerecords.storenvy.com/pr ... p-preorderThey just released a music video as well that is currently on PUNKNEWS: http://www.punknews.org/article/48552/old-flings-gripThanks!!! check us out on facebook, twitter, and storenvy. SEE YA AT Fest!!! http://www.selfawarerecords.com

My recording studio, Renaissance Recordings will have a table at the Flea Market this year, as well being a sponsor for the Fest. We'll have shirts, koozies, stickers, bandannas, and compilations of Austin, TX punk bands ALL FOR FREE!!!. That's right, we won't be selling shit. I just want the word to get around about my brand new studio, meet new people, make new friends, and try to pitch in with everyone having a great time as much as possible.
We also might be holding a contest for unsigned bands for the recording of a free EP, so be on the lookout on the Fest site, Punknews, Dying Scene, etc. for info on that in the coming months.
One other idea I've been toying with lately is trying to get an all new punk rock directory/database/social network going, exclusively for the punk scene. BYOFL was a great idea and resource, but it's never updated, and nobody ever really uses it anymore. Also, you can book tours, promote shows, and make fans and friends on all the social networks and band websites out there, but they seem to come and go out of style, and I'm really into the idea of the punk community having it's own lexicon of bands, promoters, punk houses, labels, record stores, venues, co-ops, and people that can put on shows, help bands with a place to stay on the road, and be proactive about the spirit of the community in general. Initially, I'm planning on just having my group of friends/studio team hanging out around the Holiday Inn and Flea Market with participation forms for people to fill out with their contact info, location, and what they can help out with, and turning it into a spreadsheet that will be free for download from my website, but I'm already in talks with a web designer about taking it a step further into a whole interactive directory/social network. Of course I'm totally up for feedback on my ideas and curious to see how much interest there is in such a thing. I figure Fest would be the best place to start since we could not only spark this for North America, but the world.
And of course, I'm doing this all independently.

Hey there, I was initially planning to attend this year's edition of the Fest but it won't happen for me. Anyway, I'm doing a fanzine and I would love to have it available at the Fest, would you know any distro who would be willing to carry it? It's a full sized zine, 60+ pages; there are 5 issues so far, I interviewed a bunch of bands that people at the Fest are probably familiar with... ( Frank Turner, Antillectual, North Lincoln, Bridge and Tunnel, Austin Lucas, The Movielife/I Am The Avalanche; Man Overboard, Death Is Not Glamorous, Silent Majority, Leatherface, Comadre...) Anyway, please get in touch if you can help me out: papernab(at)gmail(dot)com More info about the zine: http://justsayyo.wordpress.com/
