Does someone know the best way (and cheap if it is possible) to travel Fest from New York City? A friend needs to know this.
Thanks!

JetBlue from JFK to Jacksonville and then rent a car to Gainesville is how I usually go.
Southwest also goes to Jacksonville from LaGuardia.

From Jacksonville you can also take the Runways shuttle but it runs kind of infrequently. It's an option at least.

Flight is direct and affordable (on JetBlue at least).

As far as I know nothing direct to Gainesville from NYC, at least that's inexpensive.

Thanks, that info was actually really helpful (even though it wasn't directed at me!)
I'm traveling from Australia and don't know much about US domestic airlines. Here in Australia we have QANTAS (top of the line) and budget airlines JetStar, Virgin Blue and Tiger Airways.

Aside from Jet Blue, what are some other cheap US domestic airlines?

Hey all,

I'm coming from Australia but will be coming down from NYC too. I've been told it's possible to do one-way car rentals etc. and since this is my first time heading south I was thinking of driving down and flying back.

More importantly Sophbenj, I'm coming from Aus too! Are you planning to head from NYC?

Can't fucking wait....

Jim

Yeah I am! Visiting friends in NYC for a couple of days and then getting down to Gainesville one way or another... Aussie Carpool? I was considering going by train but plane is quicker and cheaper.

Most of them are pretty cheap internally, from a European perspective anyway. Southwest, Delta, Continental, American. Continental are bloody awful, mind you.

Southwest Airlines was the other one I mentioned. Its a tiny bit more expensive than Jetblue.

Anybody looking to drive down from NYC at any time around then?

Trying to get down there for as cheap as possible, which looks like it might be renting a car between like 3-4 people now. At the moment it's just 2 of us, so if anybody wants to share let me know! Otherwise we'll just have to go for flights...

hey!

we are two guys from germany arriving in new york city at 17th. our plan is to stay in nyc a few days and then travel down to the Fest maybe around 23th / 24th october. at the moment we are still looking for a ride down to gainesville. any experience with hitchhiking on i-95?
we ca offer money for gas and a roadtrip together with some open minded critical diy music nerds. if there are any people interrested in car rental let us know...please note that we are only looking for one way ride down to gainesville, as after the Fest we plan to stay a week in florida.

Hitching I-95 is pretty crappy in most areas, give yourself a lot of time if you try it
