Ok, behind hamptin inn, next to the hippodrome and Boca Fiesta theres a little joint called Maude's, been going there since i was 11 and they have great espresso drinks, also its fun to sit in there looking across the street at the starbucks that gets no business during Fest because they dont have dollar coffee (like Maude's did last year) they used to have espressos named after old cars, and the VW was my favorite, (triple with chocolate and whipped) the patio area is great place to bring your party back to an acceptable level. and the John Moran Photography exhibit is a lovely gallery of photos of floridas wildlife in the air conditioned comfort of the Sun Center... Check it out.

Volta Coffee Karma Cream (ice cream shop but they have FANTASTIC coffee) couple Starbucks locations, one is downtown Gainesville not far from Double Down Live, the other is a ways down NW 13th past the Holiday Inn (if you're into Starbucks, that is)
Friend of mine swore by a place called Coffee Culture, but I'm unsure where in Gainesville it is in location to the venues. Places I mentioned above are in the venue vicinity. Look them up!

Coffee Culture is on NW 13th St. and 21st Ave. I don't drink coffee but my wife likes the place. It is local and they are friendly. Jon

these are the top notch coffee shops in the area of the venues: Maude's -near Boca Fiesta/CMC/Hippodrome -last year they had a $1 special for FESTers, this year?? Karma Cream -near 1982, Gator Dawgs Volta -near the double down, market street Flaco's -near the Venue/8 Seconds IF you're gonna go shopping for some beans, go to WARD's and buy some Sweetwater coffee - the stuff is BOSS. http://www.sweetwaterorganiccoffee.comalso of around town of where you can drink some sweetwater; http://www.sweetwaterorganiccoffee.com/ ... ville-area

I tried Maude's because it was right by our hotel this year (Hampton Inn) and also based on the recommendation of this thread/sharkie's post. Superb coffee and food! I went there quite a bit.
B.F.D. also had good coffee. Thumbs up for two new places for coffee (well, new for me) I hadn't been before and will keep in mind for next Fest!
I was pretty stoked that Maude's did the business they did considering Starbucks is right across the street. I guess it's different though, as I'm from NYC where there's a fucking Starbucks on every single block now it seems. It amazes me that our independent coffee joints/city-wide chains still do business because of it, so I'm always stoked to see smaller coffee places doing business when its right near a Starbucks location.
