The real deal behind the schedule is they want to hold out and drop the bomb that HWM is going to be playing the Fest. Here's the theory. The new fake posters that are infiltrating the board with their nay saying and down playing of this years glorious Fest. Trying to point out random bummers of this Fest about how older fests were better because of hot water music playing. Another thing that intrigues is because they didn't do it last year when everyone would've suspected it. It was just building the suspense for this year because of the draft and chuck ragan both being there last year, and not doing it. A real suspense builder. Then this year chuck ragan's european tour ends on Oct. 14th then restarts Nov. 1st. I mean, yes, the possibility of just wanting to be at Fest is probably the real reason, but why not just cast some speculation into effect.
I'm only posting this because chewy and I had a conversation about this, and thought it'd be good to get a conspiracy thread going.

conspiracies are good, but you gotta get your facts straight. last year, Chuck did play (and it ruled), but the Draft was on tour with Samiam in Europe during Fest. I can guarantee it won't happen. I haven't heard anything (and I'm probably not even one of the guys that would even know), but they live 2500 miles apart...how are they gonna even practice? I'm just saying...
hey, so far, rejoice in the "it'll never happen" lineup Tony's pulled together this year. As much as he likes to keep things up his sleeve, don't project that on the fact he's got a lot of bands to get crammed into three days and it takes a while to get it all figured out.
Be patient...like you gotta choice.

Eh, I just wanted to get some kind of discussion going about the schedule, other then understanding that it takes a great deal of time and organizing to get 180 bands plumped into a schedule. I just want to read a bunch of left field theories to come out, and to dream.

i dunno a little under two weeks worth of possible practice time between the european tour and Fest to 're-learn' songs you've played together for practically many many years straight.
maybe i just need to keep going with the Prince/Dukes collaboration conspiracy theory...

Isn't HWM a little obvious for a suprise band? i mean, i like them as much as the next guy but really, how 'amazed' would you be if they popped up? i'd almost be more suprised if they didnt play..
i love the conspriracy idea though, especially checking up on bands' tour dates and looking for gaps to synch up.. the truth is out there!

What with all the ridiculous rumours about Ian MacKaye dying and whatnot, it would only be fair for us to start a Fugazi rumour, surely.

the reason the schedule is not up yet is because i emailed pj and told him every single band that i want to see so he's making the schedule to my needs. and i made sure to tell him to put the new bruises and monikers on during D4 and avail so no one will watch them.

I think a HWM music reuion could work. Since 3 of the guys live in Gainesville they could practice together while Chuck could practice on his own, then a day or two before the Fest they could practice together. When it comes to learning songs for a reunion show you just pick a handful of songs to learn and concentrate on those rather than re-learning your whole catalog.
IF they played it would be sweet. Especially if they did Fuel For the Hate Game straight thru in the same order as the LP.

I don't think you need to pull any strings to make sure nobody watches new bruises. OH NO I DIH-INT!!!!
I kid, the real reason there's no schedule is because they're running the whole thing like warped tour this year, every day every band draws straws to see whether/where/when they're playing that day. D4 at 3pm on a sunday - it's like Fest four never happened.

I heard that HWM did little reunion action at a show in Texas. If Chuck pops up in Gainesville during the Fest I would be elated, but when I saw him at a show down here in FLL, I asked him about the Fest and he said he was going to be on the West coast during it. I'd definitely be ok with being lied to if they played together though.
