Market Street has always been my favourite. Great sound, plenty of space to sit and chill out between bands, big bar with cider on tap, reasonable capacity but the design makes gigs still feel very intimate and most importantly for oldies like me, I can get close to the stage without being stuck in the pit!

I talked to the new owners last year and they seemed very nice. I hope they'll be using it again this time round!

Love: The Venue (its pretty the much largest venue that can house a still tightly-knit punk show without seeming giant and flashy) 8 Seconds (if not just because there is always a place to go for breathing room if you need it)

Like: Rum Runners (but its kinda small and the sound isn't great)

Loathe: The Atlantic (i probably waited a total of two hours there last year and the line didn't move a single inch in the total amount of times i was there)

its funny how people hate the Atlantic and Common Grounds, while those are my favorite places to go during the rest of the year

Seriously. Once you get inside, those are two of my absolute favorite venues at Fest!

I would live in Common Grounds if I could. Or more specifically, in the little bit outside. I spend too much of Fest out there.

I like the Atlantic too. But the queues at Fest 9 were totally mental.

Once your in common grounds and atlantic are cool, but just getting in sucks.. not only for the capacity, Atlantic closes often the door during the show when they are full, so nobody is let in even wen people leave during the set .. I was more than once among the first ten of a line, saw people leaving early/ middle of the set and instead of seeing the 2nd half, I was stuck outside..

At Common Grounds there is nearly always space left, even of its officiall full.. I'm aware that has to do with the good amount of people hanging out in the backyard... but waiting 1,5 h to see gunmoll at Fest 8, missing half of the set and then being in a half empty room is a goddamn joke..

I hope market street and durty nellys come back, two of my favourite venues.. the big plus of the venue is that you never have to worry that its filled up but I think it had not much athmosphere

I actually edited it because I wrote 'radio rental' at first before realising no one would have a clue what I was talking about.

i think i spend about half the time each year in the beer garden at the common grounds, drinking the punch until it runs out.

although boca fiesta nearly topped it last year, chilling out at one of the picnic tables with a sierra nevada, burrito and paul baribeau playing. it was perfect.

This is a total bummer! I wish they'd stick it out until Fest but I'm guessing their lease ends in June or something like that. I wonder who's going to step up in their place.

people praising the venue and hating on the kickstand? fuck, that's insane. sucks to be you though, missing out on an actual punk show space in favour of a huge theatre with terrible sound and no atmosphere! the kickstand rip. cheeky at Fest 8 = best thing that's ever happened at either Fest i went to.

common grounds was boss (past tense? does not compute) i really liked the atlantic when i could actually get in, market st was cool, actually the only place i didn't like was the venue. wayward is amazing, the measure 6am show at Fest 7 was sick, would have loved to have been at the iron chic one last year.

We should make a point of using as much rhyming slanging as possible in October.
