Just like the title says. Anyone seen anything awesome lately? Maybe seen an awesome band that no one's really heard about yet?
I saw a really amazing band called Daikaiju last week. They're an instrumental surf/punk band that wears kabuki masks while they play. They played on the floor of this local hipster bar and totally tore shit up. They never said a word, but their stage presence was so wild, they kind of acted like Japanese superheroes...like if you put an episode of Power Rangers on mute, and just watched the way they move, imagine that, but instead of fighting monsters they're playing loud, kick ass music. One guitarist would grab people's beers, and wave the bottle around above his head so the beer would get all over the crowd and the band. It was incredible.

I've only been to 1 show since Fest. I moved to Orlando the month before but I only know of like 3 venues here and haven't caught anything yet.
The one show I did go to was H2O, Comeback kid, and some other hardcore bands. But H2O Canceled so it was only mediocre.

I've been to more shows this year than I think I have in any other three months in my life. I saw Larry and His Flask last week and they were RIDICULOUS. It was like someone took the energy of every show I have ever been to and made it one. Face=melted. Flogging Molly in Feb was great as always... Bouncing Souls, Cobra Skulls and Old Man Markley put on a heck of a show whenever it was I saw them. Got a kick out of a kid who totes read the sign wrong and so had no idea who "Burning Soul" was Oh my word, and I was COMPLETELY 17 again skanking to Suburban Legends, The Aquabats and Reel Big Fish in January. Haven't had that much FUN at a show in a while

It helps to live within 90 min of Atlanta I don't know how I've done it. It's just been a stellar winter/spring for shows and I'm grateful. God's been good to this little punk I must say, I'm pretty stoked to see Tim Barry in a couple weeks. Finally saw him at Fest 9 and I'm hooked.

I was at a good show last night at 1982...this Florida hardcore punk band from the 80's, No Fraud, played and man was it nuts. I noticed although they were hardcore, at times they almost bordered on grindcore...they were that intense. Plus the singer Dan Destructo was all over the bar, doin' all sorts of crazy antics. Impurity also played, and for those who don't know 'em, they're a death metal band in the style of Nile and Suffocation. There were a buncha police at the gas station across the way though so the red and blue lights actually went great with the music. Dickkicker was another band that played, and I couldn't help but think that they sounded like Flipper. Mythos was the last band of the night, them guys had a melodic death metal vibe, not too different from At the Gates and In Flames and the like.
Damn good night, overall...

Damn good night, overall... totally forgot about this show, I love Dickkicker but forgot it was even going on until they were already playing apparently, ended up just watching Trailer Park boys all night
