Kenny wrote: We booked into the Taj on Arlington Street, is that a good spot?
(It seems like a really nice hotel but it was pretty cheap so we're a little alarmed that a/ the rest of the bill is still to follow and b/ there'll be bell boys and concierges and things and we'll need to learn how to do the handshake tip thing.) Great spot, right downtown. I'm surprised you'd say it's cheap, though; that area is generally pretty pricey. And what larryarms said. Those places are generally no good.

I know, it doesn't seem like it should be cheap, quite the opposite, hence our concern that there's more bill to come!
Do you know of any good gigs around that time? Where should we drink? And is the ducktour as cool as it sounds?

Not sure of any gigs around then, but I'll look into it. I'm sure some good stuff will be happening! As for drinking, I have a couple of favorite places. Charlie's Kitchen ( http://www.yelp.com/biz/charlies-kitchen-cambridge) is good, and has an awesome jukebox upstairs. Grendel's Den is nearby and has a good happy hour special: half-priced food with a drink of $3 or more (which would be any beer, how convenient!) I've actually never been on a duck tour, but I hear they're fun. I just can't bring myself to do it

Kenny I quite liked Severn/s Ba which is in Beacon Hill I think. I aso thought the Bukowski Tavern was quite dingy and cool!! Also went to a place called The Pour House to eat which wasfine. You must also visit Newbury Comics on Newbury Street!!! Kenny wrote: I know, it doesn't seem like it should be cheap, quite the opposite, hence our concern that there's more bill to come!

^ If you're going down by the Pour House, I'd recommend hitting up McGreevy's in addition/instead. It's a baseball tavern run by Ken Casey of the Dropkick Murphys. It's a pretty nice place, actually; plays better music than most downtown bars and has good food/drink. AND you can get Goose Island's ales (from Chicago) there, on draught. So that's cool, too.
I second Newbury Comics. The one in Harvard Square has a decent selection, too. I might just like it 'cause it's close to my house, though.

Thanks, all. Very helpful. I don't think I'd ever hear the end of the mocking if I went to a pub owned by a Dropkick Murphy, though.

I really dont feel like greyhounding to this. I could even give you a place to crash friday and saturday. Uhmmmm yep. I'm pretty fun.

I think the tickets are non refundable. and at this point I have like 100 dollars to bring to florida with me. or else I would totally be down to toss some gas money to ya. I will probably just end up riding the hound. Just figured I'd try a different approach. I didn't think it would work but cant blame a man for trying.
