Expect to get drunk and see great music. Also expect lines.

One thing you should definitely do is buy me a beer!

Get in line like, three bands prior to who you want to see. Worst case, you wait three hours for your favorite band. Best case, you get in early and see something new. It's how I discovered Strike Anywhere when they played right before 7 Seconds last year.

And on that note, beware of overzealous stage divers to the face.

I am fairly certain it will only help with access to the show you are working. More than likely you will get a wristband that lets you in and out without hindrance to that venue, for that day. For all other shows you are subject to the same lines and wait as everyone else.

You do not have to get drunk to enjoy The Fest. This will be my third sober Fest (third of any kind of Fest) and I know I will still somehow manage to have the time of my life.

I don't want to come off like some kind of teetotaling jerk. I just think it's ignorant for people to act like you have to spend the weekend blacked out to be Festing properly.

the vast majority of festers DO spend the weekend getting hammered though, so i think it was a safe and fair assumption on his part. i'm straightedge and this will be my 6th year attending the Fest. some people like to get wasted, some dont, but it doesnt matter because we're brothers and sisters on halloween weekend every year (until i get puked on).

Yaaaay! More sober people! Do you people also get sick of your friends too when they get drunk and swear that they're being funny? Can we hang out when my friends do that?

I didn't particularly appreciate when we were at Mardi Gras and a friend started yanking up my jacket so everyone could take a gander at what a "fantastic ass," I have. Thanks guys...
Sidenote: I was at Mardi Gras because we were in Louisiana for a conference and I was up for an award. Mardi Gras is no place for sober people.

Yes. All sober festers should band together when facing the menace of obnoxious, drunk friends.
