It weirds me out how often Drive is on the radio (on Triple J) when I'm at work. Not as part of some punk show or anything, just mixed in with Arcade Fire and Kasabian and whatever in the middle of the day, and every day.

Has it been on the radio much in the UK? I just can't imagine it being on Radio 1 or something every day.. which would be the equivalent of our Triple J. I guess in America it wouldn't be unusual.

Not complaining or anything, just feels strange!

I never listen to the radio apart from Planet Rock which is mainly classic metal so can't answer this for sure but I suspect the answer is no. My cousin came to stay recently and she's kind of into punk and even she hadn't heard of them so pretty sure they've not hit the mainstream yet. Having said that, when I went to see them at the weekend there was a small but very irritating group of youngish kids playing at being stage diving punk rockers that were clearly new to the 'real' scene so I guess Epitaph is getting the word out to a wider audience somehow.

This sucks for you though as I know the power of the Radio in Aus. I remember when Guttermouth starting getting radio time out there and they went from playing pub shows to main stage at big outdoor festivals in the space of a few months!

then you have some good radio.

Gainesville radio stations are doo-doo. NuMetal and Alternarock from 10-15 years ago, like nickelback and limp bizkit. The best you'll get is nirvana and deftones, but not even the new deftones.... you'd think the town that has No Idea, birthed HWM, AM! and LTJ could have better radio.

Then again, I only notice this when I leave my ipod at home.

I don't listen to the radio ever but the answer is definitely no.

Radio 1 is on at work constantly throughout the day, and I'm sad to say that the pop-punkest thing on there is You Me at 6 or All Time Low (I can't tell the difference, I know one of them are English though)

I guess I'm just lucky then that something good comes on once a day. It's my work mates radio, we came to a compromise with Triple J just because it doesn't repeat songs and doesn't have adverts. I guess its like our BBC Radio 1 equivalent because its the ABC station aimed at young people, but a fair bit better. The guy from Frenzal Rhomb used to do the breakfast show haha.

And yeah I agree Tim. I dunno about the rest of Oz but here in Perth bands either play in a pub or at an outdoor festival and theres nothing inbetween. But its got some advantages, like when we saw Dinosaur Jr at the pub. Sucks that when Descendents come over they're just playing some festival though, I'm not sure it'd be worth the 5 hour flight from here :?

I wouldn't really compare Triple J to Radio One. Triple J is WAY more alternative! I remember them broadcasting live form a punk festival at the Espy in Melbourne once. I can't imagine Radio One, live from KFest at the Cocks or anything like that going on here!

As for a 5 hour flight to see Descendents, I think I'd even go if it was a 5 hour crawl across the outback! Don't think I'll come out for it though. Certainly not if you won't be there!

Yeah it is way better I just meant size and popularity wise, as its a national station, major sponsor of all sorts of music stuff and government funded (no license fees, kerching). I think generally australia's way more into 'rock'. Our chav mong types have rat tails and flannel shirts and bum ACDC haha

Haha, yeah much as I love old AC/DC I do remember them being a big hit with the 'bogans' when I was in Adelaide! We lived on a campsite/trailer park for a month and met a whole load of 'real Aussies' who all thought they were somehow either related to or were the reincarnation of Bon Scott!

Haha did I tell you that when Leatherface played here a week ago my mate had to take Frankie to see Bon Scott's grave twice haha (and that he also fell in his pool fully clothed after 3 bottles of red!). Theres a statue of Bon Scott in Fremantle, its really small but has a massive oversized package. When ACDC played Perth earlier this year it was a nightmare, barefooted bogans all over the place draped in ACDC flags. Dunno what the not wearing shoes thing is about.

Yeah Alex told me. You know you're gonna have to take me there as well when I come over? Maybe not twice though!

Are there any pics of Frankies swimming party!? It sounds funny!!
