Anyone else paying attention to the FIBA worlds in Turkey atm?
Spain and Greece are both out of the comp, only true favourite left is the states... who seem to have been taking it pretty easy so far (tested by Brazil though).
Turkey have been surprisingly amazing... both defensively and offensively, last night they shot the lights out against Slovenia, and it wasn't just one dude - seemed to be everyone. Be good if they medalled, they're probably my team now that NZ got beat (we were pretty appalling against Russia).

I am about to watch the US mop up Russia! I have somewhat been paying attention. I am glad to see that Spain lost. Argentina is still left and they're pretty decent.

Yeah they seemed to pull away quite nicely in the second half. Surprising Lithuania beat Argentina, Kleiza seems to be a beast, wonder how he'll fare in the NBA this season.

Kleiza played in the NBA for a few years, then I think he went overseas? Is he coming back? But then again he may have never left...I should look that up.

yeah he played in denver for a while, but they definitely didn't utilise his whole skillset. I think he's signed with the raptors (could be wrong) and if so, should get a bigger chance. They're not looking pretty bad on paper this year.
I'm hoping for a turkey usa final!

USA vs Turkey would probably be the best final. But we should still win that game by 10. Durant is ridiculous! Maybe I am a little over-confident.

Are Macedonia any good? When I was there everyone seemed completely obsessed by it. And then we met some guy called Jeremy Massey who is apparently their star, which excited my Macedonian friends no end.

haha nahh, fiba rankings has them at 49. Although that's better than GB! They didn't qualify for the current world champs, not sure if they play top tier
Doctor Dan you are probably right, but I think Turkey's defense will be a lot more challenging to the US than any other team they've faced. Also, if they shot lights out like they did in their quarter... I think it would be an exciting game anyway
you're soo right about durant. and he's still SO young! I would love for OKC to surprise everyone and win this year, screw miami and LA!

The US is probably gonna blow it later today. I have been talking too much shit....haha.
I know Turkey has a few NBA players and homecourt advantage, so if we play them it will be tough.
Durant and Westbrook give OKC a legitimate chance of competing out west for years to come.

turkey serbia semi was unreal!
Final was a bit of a let-down, US definitely showed its class. Turkey never found the shooting touch that got them through the quarter final (they were lucky against Serbia in that respect, I think... a lot of bad, bad possessions in both games).
Iggy was great on D in both games, and durantula is a monster. Kudos to the US team for a great tourney win.

The result was never in doubt! Although we had not won the World Championship in 16 years...and we qualified for the Olympics! The next big question is who steps up and decides to play in said Olympics.
