I was thinking about this more and Glasgow is actually easy, I don't need the uncivilised bits of this country.

So just wondering if somebody already has there name down for a place, that's it for that place or are we happy with a few from one area? I'm happy to do another Sydney mix (or even East Coast of Oz). I just think that with different people doing it you are likely to get different bands anyway. Oh & another question do the bands have to still be together?

The newer the better. I guess if people want to make different ones for the same town then you can fight that out amongst yourselves, but the whole point of making it town-specific was to make each one as different as possible and avoid having 30 mix tapes with HWM and Dillinger Four on.

The point was meant to be to share your 'local' bands who other people may not have heard, so ideally not bands who are already playing the Fest. Though you pinched my idea anyway so I guess you make the rules I should never have told you til I'd posted it myself, but i'll forgive you one day, like jebus Having a CD swap box thing sounds all nice and stuff, but I want to hear more than just 1 town's worth of cool bands that I'll probably never otherwise hear. Which is why I wanted it to be an online swap. And then we wouldn't have to wait until the Fest, where we'll be drunk and doing other fun stuff. And what about bands who's MP3s you dont have but they're on their myspace (the only thing its good for). Recently broken up should count, like you could include The Gifthorse for Brisbane cuz they only broke up this year. Or bands who broke up ages ago but were never particularly well known. Cuz I still keep discovering bands who don't exist anymore but are still awesome, so I don't think that should be ruled out.

Where do you live that you can so surely do this? If dead bands aren't included people who aren't from Richmond or Gainesville are more or less stuck.
Also, I think that multiple people doing the same place wouldn't necessarily hurt. If each person only took one CD and left one CD, it's not like one person would get stuck with all 9 from the same place.
All that being said, you all do what you want. I'm not playing, because I'm way too lazy to.

Surely it doesn't matter too much if there's more than one person from the same town, because even on the off chance you ended up drawing out another mix from your town you could just switch it for another one?
However, how's the box thing going to work? Won't some people register real early before most / any other people drop their mixes off? And who's going to police it to make sure no one who doesn't leave a mix doesn't take one out? [/end fun ruining questions]

I'm pretty sure I couldn't make a full CD out of bands from my local towns, including bands that have come and gone.

Hey Belinda, i'm cool if you want to do another Sydney mix. I think it'd be cool to see how different/similar our mixes are... I'm probs just going to stick to Sydney/Wollongong/Newcastle.
