how does your country have a reputation for being even more alcoholic than the scottish when it's $6 for a beer?

not to take this thread off-topic or anything, but i've found the aussies i've met to be pretty tame drinkers. getting anyone to go to the pub for no reason besides "its the pub" is pretty tough. maybe it's because it's so much cheaper to drink at home and stuff, but still.. I didn't realise what a truly binge-drinking bunch Brits are until moving here though:)

The tame drinkers you refer to are about 5 people, but they just don't drink as much as the 5 people we would go out with in the UK, mainly because they smoke weed instead. Of our closest friends one used to be straight-edge and has never been a drinker, and another can't drink because of his epilepsy medication, so i dont think they should be used as examples of the whole nation's drinking habits

You've met 5, you've met them all :)

Around $30-$40 all weekend for food last year.

Every year most of my money goes to food. I don't drink so nothing towards beer. For whatever reason, I never splurge on merch and only end up buying a couple things. Mostly because I don't feel like carrying anything around all day.

If you exclude my 100$ worth of parking tickets, I probably spent around 30$ on food (I just brought a shit ton of oranges with me and mostly ate those in the morning, then didnt eat until night). And I brought and snuck my own booze into all the venues.

Awesome. Good for you. Thanks for supporting our local businesses. It's folks like you that make all of the hard work that goes into the Fest worthwhile.

At Fest 7 I spent like $800, mostly on tons of records and shirts. Last year, I was sub-$100, but a barely drank and only spent money on food...

I'm thinking this year I'll be around $300 - $500...

I usually spend 200-300 not including my Fest ticket.
I usually come home with like 10-20 band articles...
but I would say half if not more of that money is going to food and beer.
There are so many good places to eat it's hard to not want to eat and the fact Fest is super draining...
