Kai, Payne's Prairie might be worth a look, it's only about 15 minutes in a car down SW13th.
Also, we went to a fantastic lake featuring heaps of manatees about an hour or 90 minutes away, you can rent boats dirt cheap and get in the water with them and such. I forget the name of it just now but I'm sure Lou or Sarah will know and be along shortly.

CRYSTAL RIVER GUYS! http://www.manateetoursusa.com/They make you watch a safety video then just give you a boat for $17 an hour and send you off on the hunt for manatees (to hug, not hurt. Obviously.) Best place ever.

Ah, that's it. Make sure when your gang is booking the boat you don't happen to be in the toilet and when you come out find you've been nominated to sign the "I will take responsiblity for any and all disasters and damage" form. And then have to reverse the boat backwards out of the packed jetty having never driven anything more exciting than a go kart.

Yeah, it was really good, would definitely recommend it if you can get there. And it's really cheap too, We had the boat out for 4 or 5 hours and it only cost about $75 or so, and we split that between the six of us!

I didn't read most of the other comments, but I think Key west probably isn't the most exciting place to go, especially for just a couple hours. If you had a weekend to dedicate to it, it would be more fun. Something like Bahia Honda or Marathon key is like half way down the keys and offers the same things you would do in Key West, assuming you're not going to KW for the tourist shopping. I really recommend going on a scuba/snorkeling trip. One of the most beautiful sights in the world. As long as the oil spill isn't affecting it by then.
Also the Everglades is an awesome idea as well. I've only been to the Everglades probably twice in my life. Pretty bad considering I live less than 2 hours from it. But its an awesome experience to see the wildlife. Though, again I think you should allow yourself a little more time. I think if you did your schedule as planned you would be really rushing yourselves and miss something you want to do.

Go to the Everglades, and go to Shark Valley. Ride a bike. It's an awesome 15 mile trail, and you really get to see a lot of wildlife in their natural habitat. Also Miami rules, and Ryan doesn't know what he's talking about. Too much guitar noodling.
