I've stayed at different hotels every year. Holiday Inn 3 years ago, Econolodge 2 years ago, Days Inn last year. I've not had a bad experience at any.
I'm organizing that end of my trip this year with about 15 of my bestest friends. I booked four rooms at the Econolodge again. It's cheap and doesn't suck. It's a bit of a walk but we will have vehicles as we are driving from Ohio. If you won't have any other form of transportation (car or bike) I would think staying close would be nice, otherwise staying out a bit can save you a good bit of money (more beer, records, and delicious foods) and parking for the day near university hasn't ever been a challenge in my experience.
Happy Festing and I hope to see you all!!!

I remember someone talking about the Zen Hostel before, it's really cheap but it has a weird sort of commune style to it and you're expected to chip on chores and stuff. I think.

Hey all, does anyone have a room to share?
I'm coming solo from Canada and have never been before. Would prefer somewhere close to the venues (Hampton or Holiday Inn, I think) but really not picky. Don't really care whether it's quiet either. I would just like to get it figured out soonish. I'll buy you some beers if you can help me get this figured out.
Yeah!
Edit: Actually I just reserved a room at the Hampton downtown. It comes to $200 per person and I have room for two more. They raised the prices from 150 to 200 per night for Saturday and Sunday. PM if you want in.

i've stayed at Rush Lake every Fest since Fest 4. i like that they have bottle openers on the sink counters in the bathrooms (conveniently right next to the toilet).
i crashed in Chason's room at the Hampton Inn the last day of Fest last year and those rooms are awesome!
the past two Fests i've been dicked over by people confirming to share a room with me and then bailing, causing me to use most of my cash on the room and, last year, having to check out early and find a free place to crash. i'm willing to share a room this year, but definitely need some solid confirmation from people. also gotta see what my friends are doing.
i liked the ABVI in Wilmington, so if the gainesville one is anywhere near what that one was, i wouldn't mind doing that.
