Anyone reccomend cheap bars or cheap eats in NYC, better still in the east villiage? Me and a buddy will be there for most of a week before Fest and we is broke. Any decent rock bars that do PBR?

Last year on vacation I found a place on the Lower East Side called “Meet the Johnsons”. The best goddamn bar in Manhattan and a cheap as fuck happy hour running from noon to 8 PM. PBR cans for $1.50, huge cheap shots of liquor, good staff, a great jukebox and conveniently located within a couple blocks of ABC No Rio, an all ages punk rock venue and collectively owned activist space. It sort of has a theme of being a cross between a cheesy 1970’s basement rec room and a rural dive bar which felt quite homey to myself having grown up in Wisconsin getting tanked at cheap redneck bars.
Go there!

I live in the east village in NYC AND I'm going to the Fest. So if you'd like to contact me about cool/cheap places in that area, feel free. ( danielle.malkin@gmail.com)

We're going to NYC for the weekend before Fest. Not been myself but my mate that's coming has been 5 times so hopefully he may know some cool places if you fancy meeting for a beer one night?

I do! I'll be on my own too so to meet up with a UK stranger for a beer will be normal(er).

Flying into JFK on the Thursday (19th I think that is) then flying down to Gainesville on the 23rd which is the Tuesday. My mate just booked a hostel somewhere in the Bowery area.
Where are you staying?

Just found out about this today. Ringers are on the bill as well! On the Thursday there's Loved Ones/Tim Barry/American Steel/The Falcon and more but we don't land 'till 9pm so unless I can change the flight that's a no no!
Sunday night Lawrence Arms and American Steel are playing together in Brooklyn and The Arrivals are also playing from what I've been told but don't know if it's the same venue.
Don't know about the Monday yet but will keep you posted if I hear about something good.
