During, North Lincoln's show at Common Grounds I kept shouting "please don't break up!" I feel like such an asshole for it now. Really glad I got to see them one last time though. I blew a 0.30 on the CG breathalyzer cut me some slack.

They played the second song and I got deep in thought and relating to Tim and started crying... like a LOT. i didn't even realize i had tears streaming down my face until i saw the faces of the audience members facing me. It was seriously intense. i love those guys with all my heart and can probably relate to what Tim says and sings about more than anyone else i've know for a looooong time now. I believe that's when I cried too hahah. Not embarrassing but nonetheless happened. Two weepy girls sitting on stage ha. Richie Tenenbomb wrote: My buddy said that he was almost brought to tears by Tim Barrys set as well!! its understandable, Tim's songs are most definitely something special. BlatantAnomaly wrote: I was flat-out crying during Tim Barry. Like tears-streaming, lower-lip-trembling style. I don't get embarrassed by crying anymore though. Wow, so besides you guys I've also talked to a LOT of other people that cried during Tim Barry. There is a raw sincerity in his music that causes this for sure. i had chills for much of the set. When i went out to the Suburban Home 14th Anniversary weekend in Denver a bit ago I saw Virgil (head of SH) cry during Tim's set that closed the event. When a group of us were hanging out later that night in a hotel room i told Tim about it and it isn't something he wants to hear. He is such a real person and strive to be more like him. So, it will be our little secret about the Fest show. This may be kind of off topic, but what was the third or maybe fourth song he played? The one where he unplugged his guitar and got into the crowd? Thanks

Thanks If you remember any words, I'll remember what song it was. Wait... it's coming to me. He kept shushing the crowd... I got nothing.

"That ain't right, no that ain't my life" That's all I can remember! It was Idle Idylist! One of my favorite songs of his. "That's alright, that ain't my life. I cough all morning and I smoke all night. That's alright, that ain't my life. I pay $200 rent and I work when I like. Woah woah, where did we go wrong? Woah woah, have I been sitting out too long? No cash in my hands means I'm nothing to you. But I won't sell myself. I've got this friend close to me She called from NYC Said she's got stock options, salary and full benefits. She works the 22nd floor In a cubicle built for her She answers phones and talks a bunch about investments. Well she's finally in love She met some guy from Texas She says he's the one but she has yet to meet him. They talk now everyday, online to communicate. I said fuck that job, fuck that new beau, yeah fuck that pension. Cause that ain't right, that ain't no life. You work a 60 hour week to see one hour of sunlight. That ain't right, no that ain't no life. That guy, when you finally meet in the end, you won't even like." full lyrics: http://www.6lyrics.com/music/tim_barry/lyrics/idle_idylist.aspxGo to his Myspace to sing along http://www.myspace.com/timbarryrva

I loved his set a lot. I saw him once in New Orleans last year and even playing to a significantly smaller crowd (like 40 people or so), it was still as powerful and moving as the Fest set. I introduced myself afterwards and told him how much I enjoyed it and he seemed legitimately interested in what I had to say, unlike other bands and singers I've talked to after shows. He's pretty much the coolest person.
What album is this song on?

What album is this song on? Yeah, Tim is about as real no bullshit as you can get. He gets uncomfortable at compliments even. He is quite the opposite of your typical rock star. It was on his 2005 release - “Laurel Street Demo” If this link still works you can download it here and stream the full album: http://www.suburbanhomerecords.com/releases/tim-barry-laurel-street-demo/i suggest buying ALL of stuff though if you don't have it. You won't regret it for a second and it reminds you what in life is really important. All things Tim Barry - http://www.suburbanhomerecords.com/media/#timbarry

Yeah, I i bought Manchester, Rivanna Junction, and the newest 7" at Fest. I wanted the Mumford Elementary 7" and the Laurel St Demo too, but I didn't have enough cash on me The merch guy actually gave me the split for a dollar less than the price on it cause it's all I had. I wanted to go back for the rest, but I never did. I'll have to place an order. BTW, I totally saw you a billion times at Fest, but I thought it was weird to be like "hey, I know you from that message board!" You directed me to the bathroom at registration, I think I saw you in an elevator at Hampton Inn, AND right beside the stage during Mose Giganticus.

We live in a cyber world. I do especially being an hour away from Gville. My social life is on here more than face to face with friends. Just say "I know you online!" and say hi. I don't bite. Seeing as how I directed you to the bathroom should have told you how friendly i was. Were you actually IN the elevator with me???

I got choked up during Mike Hale's set...the song he said he's never played about his buddy that died "hold me Jameson, tonight" fuck..
then I broke my foot during Samiam like an idiot...and walked around for a day on it trying to tell myself it wasn't broken. that was embarrassing to be saying goodbye to everybody at the venue on Sunday night (Duncan, Sergie, Var, Hale, Wollard, Rebelo, etc.), hobbling like a cripple and wincing at every motion...haha. Got to hang with Colin and Amelia that night though...which always rules.
