I'm desperate to see them. I know they love FLorida, and have found a couple of places south of Tampa that have them. Is there anywhere nearer to G'ville? Attachment:

I've been in Florida most of my life and NEVER seen one of these in the wild and i consider myself a naturalist to a degree. You may want to see if they still have some of these at the Santa Fe College Zoo though. They give public tours. I know this because i was in the Zoo program there long long ago: http://www.sfcollege.edu/zoo/

I've seen them in my elementary and middle school fields, and in my friend's front yard a month or so ago. They're not that fascinating. You have just enough time to be like "holy shit, that's an owl!" before it flies away or scampers into its little hole.

Ever since I read Hoot, I've been mad into seeing them.

So they haven't passed the little bill allowing them to mow the sumbitches down for a new building yet? Florida has a habit of naming things after whatever they destroyed in order to build there.

Yeah, much of FL is named after the native american tribes that were once here as well. Sad.
