Good job. I would recommend everyone who knows they are coming to try and buy their flights now. You can even get some flights into Gainesville pretty cheap this far ahead.

Why do you say that, do you suspect this is a temporary low in fares? Prices seem very good at the moment but I found the last three years running that better deals turned up much closer to the time.

Airfare prices tend to go up as the date gets closer. This is not always the case but most of the time when you buy far in advance you can find a good deal.

Don't know where you're looking mate but from London prices to Gainesville are better than they have been for the last 3 years! Coming in at around £320 yesterday which is £10 less than I paid for Fest 5 and way less than any prices I was quoted last year or the year before!

I haven't done an extensive search yet Tim but I always like to fly in on the flight that leaves Gatwick 8am getting me to Gainesville around 5pm on the Thursday just so I've got more time. Only done Expedia, Opodo and the Kayak link so far but there all in the high £400's unless you want to get in around 9/10 o clock. if there's any cheaper for them times then let me know!!

Think I paid around £400/450 last year for these flights and just under £400 in 2007.

Oh ok if Kayak are coming up with that price then I guess it must be that particular flight that's popular or something. I must admit I was looking at flying out on the Monday or Tuesday when I was searching and as I'm very flexible with dates it makes it a lot easier.

Edit: Thinking about it that was the exact flight we were on for Fest 5, early morning out of Gatwick, getting into GNV at about 5.15 on the Thursday if I remember rightly. I had a multi-stop flight as I was going onto Chicago after to see Raygun but I booked my mates flight who was flying back home on the Monday and it was £330 and we booked them in late September as that was when we first found out about Fest.

I booked my tickets in june last year on orbitz and got a return for £216, think i flew with KLM there and back on Air France, which made little sense to me.

i got a pretty reasonable price for the "strange" flight I booked last year in sept.. the price for the flight I probably take din't change by more than 5€ in the last weeks... probably berlin into tampa, then after the Fest to NYC and back home from there for currently 550€
