I was at a friends party and someone that lives up there in Gainesville brought up The Fest and said something how "They" (i'm assuming Tony?) are going to have Fest tour around, like instead of having it in Gainesville having it in other parts like New York one year and another State the next year and so forth. They were pretty intoxicated but it still shocked me to hear this and was wondering if there was any truth behind it.

I personally don't believe it because it hasn't even been spoken about on these forums and obviously something this big would have been.

Despite having no factual knowledge of the matter whatsoever, I'm pretty confident I can claim without fear of contradiction that that's not going to happen.

Are you sure they weren't talking about Riot Fest? I know Riot Fest have started to branch out of Chicago and are doing stuff in LA or something like that. I think it's just Riot Fest sponsored shows as opposed to full weekend events though but could be wrong.

sounds unlikely for me as well, of course you would be able to get a ood line up together in another town, but not that special feeling.. all these different clubs within a couple of blocks.. a downtown takin over by a certain kind of people...houseshows and so on..

For some reason I constantly hear a lot of hate on Riot Fest. I don't know why. I almost went last year just to see The Bosstones.

But yeah, I'm thinking no on the Fest Tour.

i hear the same and I can't figure out why either, just always heard it is never that great

It's probably actually pretty good, it's just that beside Fest it seems a bit guff.

Tony told me and Alex in person last week that he IS going to take A Fest on tour, but THE Fest is still going ahead in Gainesville

Yeah, he talked about it for a while.. sounded pretty sweet, like the anti-Warped Tour

I've been to Riot Fest 3 years running and there are reasons not to like it but hate is a bit strong. The problem with past Riot Fest is the majority of bands play in one huge venue that makes the Venue in Gainesville look like 1982 or something. The place is huge, very expensive to drink/eat, no re-entry after about 5pm, shit sound and one year I went it was so cold I had to curl up and go to sleep! The warm up club shows are great fun though and all the Chicago people I've met over the years have been lovely.

This year however is looking a bit more interesting in that it's spread over 5 days so hopefully they'll put the bigger bands in smaller venues this time.

I've heard all kinds of talk over the years...that turned out to just be, talk.

Just recently I heard a "no Fest this year" rumor originating from a Florida band. Normally this would upset me greatly, but my wife has a due date of 10/26/09, which means I wouldnt of been going to Fest anyway.

Pssssh...I believe nothing until I hear it from PJ or Tony.
