Stores here don't even sell PBR, and people who have even had it thinks it taste's like shit. PBR is honestly the best-tasting cheap beer. Also, I think there is the ethical quality of it having been so "DIY" in the face of other major breweries, even from the beginning. The punx love that. Also, Budweiser makes me feel like shit. PBR was bought by Miller years ago and is currently about as DIY as a Big Mac. For the sake of keeping PBR afloat, Miller picked them up for distribution, correct? However, if I'm not mistaken, they still do their own thing in the same sense that some major label bands still keep "creative control." I know for a fact that PBR avoids major advertisement and don't play to certain crowds or "types" like other major beer companies. Maybe "DIY" was a bad choice of words, but they're damn close.
The "DIY" label is a stretch for all but the smallest of microbreweries- however, the difference between a beer being DISTRIBUTED by a mega-beer-corporation and being OWNED by one is pretty huge. I once toured the Olympia brewery which has long since been bought out by Heilman, and in one ginormous room, they had six different vats of beer brewing, all under the influence of one control panel. So, you would literally have one employee sitting there going, "mmm, okay, time to turn the Old English vat up a little bit, and while I'm at it , let me go ahead and press this button to inject some crap into the Hamm's vat..."

Trial is playing Chicago in May, and they have said they might play a few more shows in 2009, but nothing specific planned yet.
so, yes, TRIAL at The Fest.

There are a good handful of bigger hardcore fests that I usually never go to for a variety of reasons, but the main reason is that I hardly like any of the bands playing them, and the crowds are sometimes kinda dumb. I don't give a shit about Verse, Have Heart, Death Before Dishonor, Terror, Cold World, Blacklisted, Shipwreck, Guns Up, Madball, 100 Demons, Down To Nothing, Trapped Under Ice, Ruiner, Know The Score... and all those bands that seem to fill up every hardcore Fest.
Meanwhile, the hardcore bands I do wanna see either never come to FL, or even when they do, they play with so many macho crap bands I just don't wanna deal with their crowds.
Having a few more hardcore bands on The Fest would work out especially great for people like me, who like some hardcore, but hate hardcore fests and most hardcore crowds. i back more hardcore. though i do enjoy most of the bands you hate, lol. i would shit if cold world would play the Fest.

And they played riot last year, so I'm pretty sure someone can convince them to play.

Am i the only one who wants to see the bosstones? The Dwarves really would be pointless for the Fest if they are still doing shows like when I saw them in the early 90s. The set didn't even last a minute before they destroyed everything in sight. Total hype/shock appeal live. But maybe they have changed? I suggest the The Jesus Lizard instead. I loved the Bosstones back then too, but have honestly no interest in seeing them now. I grew out of ska in like 1994. Though as I remember, they put on one hell of a live show!
