so I was wondering... aside from wearing the shirt of the band you are going to see, does hometown notoriety affect "That Guy" status? Is anyone wearing a HWM, LTJ or AM! shirt in Gainesville, at any time, instantly "That Guy?" or an Avail shirt in Richmond, or a... Backstreet Boys shirt in orlando? OK, that last was a bad example, but you get my point.

I don't see it as a "that guy" thing at all.
I'm wearing a Young Livers shirt right now I'll probably wear my Dirty Money one tomorrow since it's the only thing I think is clean right now

"that guy" status extends in my opinion to wearing "members of" bands shirts at shows, like wearing a HWM shirt at a the Draft show or vice versa

I don't think any of this even applies anymore, its such an old concept. Tim Barry was wearing HIS OWN SHIRT when I saw him playing the revival Tour and I noticed in photos that he wears it A LOT. Kinda like how metal bands in the 80s wore their own shirts. So whatever.

he actually commented on that in Orlando saying it was the only clean shirt he had and it was free so he didn't give a shit. I remember last time he was in gainesville before revival tour he was wearing a plaid button up and made a joke out of how this is the most country he will ever be and he just got it out of his friends trash can before leaving for tour

When I saw the surprise ALL reunion show in January in Colorado (at Drag the River/Scott Reynolds), there were A LOT of people wearing Descendents and ALL shirts/hats. I admit, it was kinda overkill. But then again, a lot of those people were from the ALL Dorkboard. They are hardcore about those bands. There were also people all weekend in Drag shirts.

Yeah, Tim couldn't really give a shit about what the scene thinks and I love him for that.

that different, those bands aren't huge.

I'm not really worried about it or anything, just every now and then I wonder, "Huh, is everyone in the Gainesville punk scene sick of seeing this big flame on hoodies?"

but I don't care, it keeps me warm, I'd wear a different hoodie if I had one but I don't right now. And if everyone just thinks I'm a huge dorky HWM fanboy, well, maybe I am.

the only thing I don't do is wearing a shirt of the band playing if I go out to a show .. but everything that matters should be anyway, that you wear a shirt because you like the band and not just because it could be cool to wear it.. the "punkrock-scene" should be over that bullshit..

i had the Fest shirt on at the smoke or fire show last week, were I kind of knew half of the crowd that was there (only 50 people) and I'm sure a lot thought that I did it on purpose.. won't wear the shirt anymore when I go out, cause all are jealous I was at the Fest and tehy not..
