some things will send up red flags in wikipedia's system, and a bot will auto-revert things. Pretty sure IP tracking is one of the big ones. But if you add a note to your edits, or link to a source, it helps things stay.
I wonder, if you add a source, will anyone actually check that source most of the time? It would probably look fishy to put a link to the messageboard as a source, but maybe a redirect, or someone could post an article on National Underground with all the real facts we want in The Fest Wikipedia article, cite NU as a source, and then maybe we could slowly slip in the wacky facts.
One thing that definitely would NOT work is having PJ or anyone at No Idea edit the article themselves. It might slip by, but there have been a ton of cases of people/companies editting their own wikipedia articles, and the serious wikipedia fanatics flip their shit when they notice how the IP addresses match up.

I think it is hit or miss. As in, if some Wikifanatic is watching that page or not.
I edited a certain Wiki page that was full of absolute embelished lies and so now everything on it conflicts. I did this in hopes that the whole page will be removed or turned back to a clean slate. But it hasn't changed for months. Which is equally as amusing to me that nobody is even watching that page.
But yeah, I'm one of those people that relies on Wikipedia to be true, though I know that all of it isn't and sometimes you can't tell which parts are lies and that sucks.

I actually love the fact that there are people who take wikipedia seriously enough to make sure their policies, in support of their lofty goals, are maintained.
And it's not quite random if someone catches the monkey business. Like I said, there are things that automatically throw up red flags on their automated system, prompting real people to check it out.
Jana, if you want that page to get policed, there are things you can do to trip their alarms.

It has said "The tone or style of this article or section may not be appropriate for Wikipedia." for over a year now. How I get a major red flag to go up?

easiest way is to grossly vandalize it, but less retarded is to just make a bunch of edits to the article in a short time period. Only problem is that you might get your IP address blocked. Best bet is to make one subtle edit, implanting a lot of semi-outrageous and unverifiable claims. Then a few days or few weeks later, make a ton of small edits from a different IP address. That way, they won't just revert your immediate edits, they might actually take a look at the content.

I've already done this, nobody cares about this entry apparently. Which has the same impact for me really. If you know what I mean.
