PBR is honestly the best-tasting cheap beer. Also, I think there is the ethical quality of it having been so "DIY" in the face of other major breweries, even from the beginning. The punx love that.
Until Miller started making it cause Pabst shut down. Oh, and now they're turning the Pabst brewery into condos and retail space! YAY!
PBR really is one of the best tasting cheap beers, Schlitz being the other. Schlitz is tougher to get a hold of though outside of the Midwest...

A lot of those kids were more or less "stereotypical" modern hardcore kids and again, they far from dominated the crowd. There were also lots of people there in various states of fucked-uppedness who seemed to be having just as good a time as the SXE kids.
I was one of them. If a band that awesome plays, it doesn't matter what state of intoxication I'm in, I'm going to fucking lose it. I think people read too much into being "hardcore"; I love hardcore music, and I think there are plenty of other people who love it without going to shows and making them less enjoyable for other people.
That being said, I have been known to say "If me jumping and running around like an idiot is messing with your show experience, you need to be at an indie show and not a hardcore show." So I may be the worst person to give an opinion on this.
But yeah, Ruiner melted my whole face-ular region.

I think band selection involves the input of more than just Tony and Var. I'm sure PJ, Cam, Ryan, Matt, Jennifer, Dave, and probably some of the bigger bands also get something of a say in it.
There are a good handful of bigger hardcore fests that I usually never go to for a variety of reasons, but the main reason is that I hardly like any of the bands playing them, and the crowds are sometimes kinda dumb. I don't give a shit about Verse, Have Heart, Death Before Dishonor, Terror, Cold World, Blacklisted, Shipwreck, Guns Up, Madball, 100 Demons, Down To Nothing, Trapped Under Ice, Ruiner, Know The Score... and all those bands that seem to fill up every hardcore Fest.
Meanwhile, the hardcore bands I do wanna see either never come to FL, or even when they do, they play with so many macho crap bands I just don't wanna deal with their crowds.
Having a few more hardcore bands on The Fest would work out especially great for people like me, who like some hardcore, but hate hardcore fests and most hardcore crowds.

I do like hardcore more than pop-punk, but thre really isn't THAT much pop-punk at The Fest either. Although I guess that depends on exactly how you define pop-punk, I guess there are a lot of borderline pop-punk bands.
but I think we can all agree that The Fest needs more ska.

It's weird you say that. I had forgotten about her until I had a dream about her last night. We were dating, and I was stoked. I was also doing guest vocals on a new The Falcon record. It was a great dream.

I actually would like to see some more ska, or at the very least skapunk at the Fest too.
I feel like LTJ and Bomb the Music Industry play every year, change things up a bit!
that said, it would be awesome if maybe RX Bandits played next year.

I'd be down to see RX Bandits, Gainesville actually has a couple of decent ska bands, although The Know How isn't around anymore. I think The Supervillains would fit in well with the Fest since all their songs are about smoking pot and getting drunk.
A Spitvalves reunion would be amazing.
Streetlight Manifesto, Big D and the Kids Table, The Aquabats, or even Planet Smashers
I listened to a lot of ska in highschool

it's pretty simple really. they don't scream enough, and their lyrics remind me of high school. nothing personal against pop-punk of people who like it, i'm just fucked up and enjoy listening to people scream about the government.
