Gene, Mitch, and I (for those of you who met us) are planning on moving to Gainesville this summer. I know other people have moved to Gainesville because of Fest, I'm just wondering...
anyone else moving this year?
also, any GNV residents/UF students who could give us some tips, I'm sure that would be comical and helpful.

oh snap, awesome!
i just moved here in August. it's been great so far, but I love florida and the heat and crackers and flat roads and such so I am biased. so get ready for that.
watch out for the ghetto, it kind of sneaks up on you here. as in, when you find a place to live, you'll be in a nice little neighborhood and BAM broken 40s and shoes hangin from the power lines.
traffic blows, in a way I haven't seen since Atlanta. get a bike. ( i need one...)
don't eat the yellow snow!
UF is the savior and the devil in this town. students are cool but they/we are admittedly the dumbest people in the universe. i can't possibly describe how, but this is nothing new as far as the world, just the concentration seems to be extra-high here. the cops despise your stupid guts because you are between 18-30 years of age, just because you MIGHT be a UF student and therefore a no-good hippie drug-dealing communist (you name it...) scumbag. even though they are 32 and were UF student a decade ago...
The residents of the town, not associated with the university, are Florida's finest. the official dress is jean shorts and MAYBE a shirt, but that's pushing it. boots and no socks, 1982 yugo smoking like a bonfire, and a general distaste for 'y'all young fellers'. They are harmless, and comical, but they WIL ask you for $1 with some line about their kids or a rare disease or something.
dont live on the SE side of town unless you like things stolen from your home.
everything else not typical of anywhere else in the US I can think of (granted, i'm new) you experience over Fest-weekend.
that's just the negative stuff, sorry. the music's good, beer is cheap and people are awesome.
good luck!

or, failing that.. just 'forget' to come back from Fest. 'What do you mean I only bought a one-way ticket? Boy, is my face red.. well, I guess i'll have to stay.. Darn this bad luck of mine.'

Don't tell me what's Fest. I coined it as an adjective you know!
