We were in Registration most of the afternoon, but didn't see anyone scream/jump up and down/break down and weep.. but someone must've won that ridiculous prize right? I want names!

I've heard that it was someone who'd driven from Orlando I think so they just put it all in their car and drove back with it.
Musta saved a pretty heafty postage bill!

His name was David and he was from Lake Mary, FL. He was very happy when he won. He took some home in his car and gainesvillebands.com is shipping the rest of the stuff to him.

We picked the winner totally at random. If you purchased a ticket you had a chance to win.

Wish I had got a photo of him with a huge fake check from the Fest that said "a shit ton of awesome stuff" in the money section.

I think the whole mega-prize thing is a fucking awesome idea. Even if I'd never win it's still cool to see anybody get that kind of happiness overload.

The only thing is we had no idea when he was going to show up. We picked a person at random and had them marked in the registration books. He could have shown up anytime on Friday or Saturday (or not at all). If you want to stand there all day next year to get a picture of the winner please do!

^Yeah, that actually brings up a question. What would you guys have done had he not shown up at all? Would there be a runner up or just no winner? I guess you really can't choose one though once registration ends.

Makes sense. Granted, I'm sure the people who buy tickets and don't show up are slim, still I'm sure there must be a small number. Maybe some random folks who end up not being able to go and couldn't sell their tickets/didn't get refunds.

On the subject of people not showing up -- Two of the people that didn't show up at all flew from Zurich to London and weren't able to continue on. I'm still awaiting that story. Surely he wasn't dumb enough to fly with drugs (that weren't packed in his ass.)
