Anthem guys saved my life a time or two during Paint It Black. Once, I had most of my weight on my neck sideways on stage, but part of me was still stuck in the crowd, so I couldn't roll away, and an anthem guy pulled on my leg, allowing me to do like a handspring and get rightside up. AND they still let me stage dive right after that.

So, I totally saw you several times over the weekend, but every time I went over to speak, you vanished into thin air. It was pretty amazing. How do you do that?

I should be a fucking ninja. I even wore bright yellow all weekend so I'd be easier to find in crowds, and I still can't help but vanish.

Oh yeah, totally. I always saw from a distance, and then walked in that direction, and then always ended up with a huge "WTF" face, looking around like a moron. Guess it just wasn't meant to be. Maybe next year.

Same shit here. Some assholes told me it was out past the highways, so West I went and missed Saturday night (but that did enable me to get tot he Treehouse show, which pwned. 6 bands & 0 cops). It was supposed to be 441 NORTH to 74th, which I got to Sunday night and that rocked.

We went 74 blocks west at first, then decided we had gone the wrong way and turned around and went 74 blocks east. Talk about a huge fucking waste of time. We missed O Pioneers!!! but somehow, miraculously, made it back in time for Bomb the Music Industry. Next year I'm gonna kidnap one of you Gainesville dwelling mother fuckers and force you to take me anywhere I need to go. Not really.

Edit: Now that I think about it, maybe we DID go North/South. Either way, we went 74 blocks in BOTH directions and couldn't find shit. Just big open fields and trees and shit.

the whole thing was rad, so i'll list things I will remember in a year:

pluses:
+LTJ (shut up, i like them!)
+North Lincoln NOT being drunk this year!
+Sunday night (vena cava+vagina sore+tim version)
+Meeting some cool board peeps. Not many, but some.
+Cheap beer, good music, awesome pits, late nights and friendly punks amok

minuses:
-no consensual Fest sex
-not enough PBR
-missing prefest due to school work
-Fest Aids
-not meeting enough board people
-the kickstand being WayTF out there and BYOB and bitchy-bossy at the gaate
-RIP Side Bar (my previous favorite place)
-Billy Reese Peters

ALSO:

I was right near the stage most of Friday @ the venue. Some girl was getting it on with the big speakers. Like, laying on the stage, grinding her goodies against the tower. A security guard and Roger from LTJ simultaneously said "wtf is she doing?"

I got a picture with her later. :D

I dunno if that's a plus or minus.

And some dude kissed me. On the lips. It was gnarly. Ok, i had a blonde wig on... but still. that's an official minus.

YES! I love them and I'm really sad they didn't play this year.

i def saw this too and had the wtf reaction. i talked to her before strike anywhere and all she could say was that she was from st augustine and had never heard of any of the bands playing before, i think she was pretty fucked up.

BEST!
-Getting into tons of bands that I hardly knew before hand. That was amazing for me. In addition, seeing bands that I already knew and singing my ass off during their sets.
-Finally seeing the Bouncing Souls play "The Guest".
-Running into friends of old and making new ones along the way.
-Feeling more at home than ever before in my life.

WORST!
-Staying at an apartment many blocks away and having to take a cab or the bus everytime I went downtown. I think I'll take a bike next year.
-A few pretentious types that I ran into.
-Missing both warehouse shows.
-Missing a few sets on Friday for lack of knowledge about long lines and locations.

haha I think I have some of that on film, or at least I hope I do. she just looked drunk out of her mind dancing all up on the speakers

best:

the ergs!
seeing mouthbreather at last
bridge and tunnel
young livers show and bumping into them on a daily basis, lovely dudes
meeting old and new friends
jaeger bombs
cheap beer, cheap food
realising mug night didn't just mean drinking beer

worst:
Fest being over for another year
having to sit through toys that kill whilst waiting for the ergs!
the ergs and unlovables failing to play my favourite songs (how inconsiderate :P!)
my camera totally breaking
missing most of the copyrights to go to a house show that didn't really get going

like everyone else though the best far outweighed the worst. Totally looking forward to next year!

This is EXACTLY why I love the Fest so much. I'm glad someone else gets that it's more than just about the music.

You totally mean me. I'm the most pretentious person in the world!
