Oh the sacrifices we make.
Yeah, those venues i listed above are where my "photo crew assignments" are. I'll be missing quite a few bands this year myself. Mostly because of the schedule and location of venues though. But no matter what, I'll be stoked. There is no lack of things to do at the Fest and no lack of hugs and smiles to be shared!

So is volunteering officially closed? I heard if I came to the meeting tomorrow at holiday inn, that I may get a chance to get a last spot for people that dropped out.

I got my info from a friend in charge of Fest volunteers.
But just go ahead and go, who knows... someone may still drop out.

i would like to say that volunteering for the Fest was by far the best part of Fest for me. i had the best time and met so many cool people, thank you for giving me the opportunity to not make Fest suck!

Tell us what your volunteer shift was!
I'm so glad you had a blast. I've volunteered for years now and I'm always pleased with the experience. This year I did Saturday morning registration and while it was less hectic than other jobs, I didn't like it as much. The biggest upsides to registration are
1. the ability to get your job out of the way early in the weekend.
and 2. the opportunity to meet and chitchat with various bands. That's always fun.
Anyone else have great volunteer stories?

my volunteer shift ruled. it was sunday night at common grounds.
i arrived to the side of the stage where jason rockhill simply informed me that all the other bands were sharing equipment so i just had to go and help the door. i was put at the door to help someone that i knew who worked for common grounds, checking wrist bands and all that good stuff.
i took out a couple bags of garbage and got to see some of the secret passages within common grounds.
from my spot i was able to see Whiskey & Co and Two Cow Garage pretty clearly. i was even complimented for actually showing up for my shift since it was the last one of the Fest.
pretty much after whiskey & co played, everything was dwindling down at common grounds. then i was informed around 9pm that the other volunteers had already been sent off an hour earlier than that and that i could go too.... giving me enough time to catch BLACK COBRA and THE HOLY MOUNTAIN.
definitely would do it again

i worked market st from 10:30 am til 6:30 pm as stage manager. i pretty much got to meet everyone that had anything to do with saturday. i had to call look mexico three times because they were slacking and showed up just in time to get their gear out before their set.
i met almost all the bands that played that day and hung out with them most of the day. passed out wristbands and managed the set times. kept up with the guest list and showed the bands where they could set up merch.
by the end of the night everyone was pretty drunk and telling me i was/had done a great job so i felt really good. i had a band pass so i came back all night to see polar bear club and other great stuff from backstage. its the only job i wanted and its the only one i want for next year!
