but yea, i havent seen Baroness since the Fest or the Baroness/Torche European Tour kick off in miami; can't recall what happened first...
Yeah, I've emailed and commented both of them to death about this. All I know is that Baroness/HOF/Opeth WERE all playing Orlando tomorrow and now we get HOF, and Orlando gets Baroness/Opeth. I'm so stoked they decided to play Gville!

Disclaimer: I fucking love metal.
Fact: Baroness sucked when I saw them live.
But I was there for Converge and Red Chord, so I might've just been underwhelmed...but I've heard their albums before and enjoyed it...
It's just really boring. Heavy, but boring.

Sorry to hear, their shows usually kill.
Then again, I bet if you were a girl you'd like them more though too.
Summer is pure eyecandy.

but i know they'll probably be playing a house show on friday or saturday night. yeah they are really fun llive... I remember the days we played "street skater" on PSOne 10 years ago and it had "All my friends are metalheads" in the soundtrack, but it took us a whole while to find out who they are, they didn't had a release over here yet... we went to the videostore, wrote down all bandnames, could eliminate the half right away and went to the best punkrock recordstore in town and listened to all the other bands on the list till we had them and bought the imported record for probably 22$ do kids with all that myspace, internet whatever stll have experiences like that? yeah the god old days, looking into thanklists in booklet to find out abut new bands, trading mixtapes..
Ha, totally.

At the risk of sounding all 'things were different back in my day'. The simple answer is no. Kids can now get almost instant access to any band they want via myspace, streaming or downloading tracks or albums.
The easiest way to find new bands when we were all first gettin into punk was to scour the bands you already knew 'thanks' list on their records. They'd always thank the bands they'd toured with etc, and if you'd not heard of them then chances are you'd probably like them.
Even after finding em you had to wait like 4 weeks for your mailorder to come through, and sent actual money through the post.
It was so so sweet when the order finally came tho.
Mixtapes were awesome! Somehow a comp cd just doesn't quite cut it for me. I liked how you had to actually sit and listen to the entire tape as you were recording it, made it a bit more personal y'know.
I totally remember seein LTJ on Street Skater and being like 'dude they've like totally sold out' as was the cool, holier than thou attitude at the time. How times change eh!
They shoulda totally done Tony Hawk instead.

Yeah Hawk pissed all over it. For sure.
I could probably still nail that first warehouse level in one run right now if I tried.

the street skater game wasn't so good, but tony hawk rocked and the warehouse level was released upfront on a demo and we were so stocked already on that one level and played it days and days, beating each other highscore...
and yeah leeroy, you're right.. I don't think they have still the same kind of experience.. Back then you really needed more passion to find out about bands, it was like a hunt and at the end you had this little treasure...

Chances are I won't know about any damn house shows until the Fest has started. They seem to be mostly put together the day before. I may or may not be on here during the Fest. I heard nobody is on here anyway during that time. You should just friend me on MySpace and I'll do my best.
