Hey,
Is there anywhere recommended to use the internet in Gainesville for out of towners - decent cafes with internet access etc?
I found Red Star and Phoenix Laundry on Google but neither have very useful information. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Also, while I'm here... is there a Post Office fairly central to the Holiday Inn?
Damn tourist!

You asked in the right place.

Oh and I suggest Maude's downtown, it is a coffee place that isn't corporate.

That's awesome, thanks! Does Maude's have machines to use? I won't be bringing a laptop or anything. I'd go there just for the name.

Hotels will usually put you letters/post cards in their mail if they are already stamped. Some will also sell you stamps, so check. Otherwise, your closest options are:
Across from UF campus:
1630 Nw 1st Ave
Gainesville, FL
(352) 381-1895
Downtown:
401 Se 1st Ave
Gainesville, FL
(352) 377-4038

There is a place next door called Harold's too, no lie. No computer's to use at Maude's, you just sit there and use the free Gville Wi-Fi.
But I know last year Holiday Inn had computers in the lobby for people staying there to use. Seems they'd still be there.
Only other place i know of that has computers to use is nowhere near downtown.

If you're at the Inn and can find me you can use my computer. I was reluctant about bringing it but I'll need it to download my SD videos.

Phoenix Laundry is right next to my apartment complex, it's just a laundry mat with free wi-fi thats it
i can't think of any place downtown except for the computers at target copy which is past the corner of 13th and University, they charge a small fee to use them.

also I'm going to test this out later this week but the place I work at is located right on the corner of University and Main.
during The Fest weekend I'll can change the password on the wi-fi. the UF students for Obama will be confused as to why their internet is slower but oh well I'm tired of them putting up posters all over our building anyways

There's a place on SW13TH right near the Comfort Inn (or at least there was last year) that had computers and apparently did good veggie food too! I never went in there but my mate popped in every day and seemed to like the place. Not sure what it was called but it had a big internet sign in the window.

There's no time for internet! You wake up eat and Fest, then sleep a little and repeat, seriously one meal a day and a decent amount of drinks fueled by the most excited you'll ever be in your life and good people all around, you won't miss your e-mail for the three or four days I promise.
