hey,
i am buying my plane tickets to The Fest in a few hours. i need to know though...around what time do you think the first band is going to start on Friday? and around what time on Friday do you think is check-in?

Historically, check usually starts around 12 noon and the first band around 7pm. Roll into gainesville between those times and you should be good.
