Kenny wrote: That's the daftest argument I've ever heard, Timmy. How on earth does earning more £££ = working harder? Does an investment banker earning £100K work harder than a nurse earning £20K? Of course he doesn't. And even if he ends up paying 3 times (or whatever) as much as the nurse in tax he's still going to take home an absolute fortune more. I thought arguments against progressive income taxation went out with Thatcher!
Sort of off topic, but this reminds me, every time I watch Dirty Jobs I'm thankful that people take care of that shit because I wouldn't be able to do their job. I realize they may have come to that job by lack of education, but I don't think that is true in all cases. call it protestant work ethic or whatever you please, but I'm thankful that some people still believe in hard work.

Have you tried the Gelato Company downtown? From what I understand they have an extremely high turnover rate, so they are constantly hiring.

I hope the economy picks up by fall of 2010, because I think that's when I'm gonna look at trying to find a job somewhere other than Ocala. Gainesville is a possiblity.
unless I win the lottery, then I'm going to change my major AGAIN, this time to Zymology.

Finding jobs suck. Having a college degree and having to work retail sucks even worse. I'll be living in Gainesville sometime next spring, so I'll have to search the job market too. And where the heck is this cheap rent everyone is talking about? I have yet to find anything I'm willing to pay... eventually all of us NU'ers are just going to move into a giant commune in the woods.

you have no idea how much I have dreamed of establishing some sort of punk rock compound, like a small village on the edge of a city with a good scene (like gainesville), where artists and the like could live and work. We'd have to have some sort of common product to make to help support us, but also gardens, studios, concert venues, etc etc. I realize it's not a terribly original idea, but with proper organization, I think it might be possible one day.

The hippies already did that in Gville long ago, its called Merlyville. And there is a Krishna compound too, in Alachua. Been to both of these places. Little too cult like for me.

Well see I would want my compound to be decidely non-cult-like. Interact with the outside world a lot, not be reclusive.
The only cult compound I'm intersted in is The Causey Way.

Let me know how I can help you, Sus! I know a lot of people around town in marketing/advertising/design. And the room you're staying in at my house could potentially be your low-rent place. We'll talk!
