I took my first drink of liquor at the ripe age of 22. I've had maybe 5 bottles of beer in my entire lifetime, and I just recently started hanging out at the bar every now and then. I turned 24 a couple of weeks ago, so this is all relatively new to me.

I don't know. I was a little kid probly 8 or 9 driving somewhere with my dad and he had me sip off his Foster's oil can. Now that I think about it, my dad was drinking and driving with me in the car haha
I didn't actually start drinking until I was about 17 or so.

Does it count if mom drank while she was preggo?
just kidding.
Realistically and not surprisingly it began in middle school when I discovered punk music. So 11-ish? Mom always assumed it was grandma drinking all the amaretto and drambuie. Beer stumbled in when my brother realized the merit in teaching me how to shotgun.

i thinking the drinking started around 15.
one of my first memories is puffing on one of my dad's finished cigarettes and then getting slapped by mom.

Not that this really counts, but when I was a toddler I snuck into a gallon size bottle of red wine and likely passed out soon after. I remember it being the best grape juice ever.
I actually started drinking liquor when I was like 15, snuck into my Dad's rum or whatever he had. Skipped the beer. My Dad is a beer connoisseur and after about the 100th time of him saying "hey try a sip of this beer", it pretty much ruined it for me. That and him boiling hot dogs in beer, yuck. Maybe he was trying the reverse psychology thing on me but all it made me do was drink hard liquor instead. I only recently started drinking beer and enjoying it. But it can't be cheap beer. Blame that on my Dad too.

my parents have told me that the first time i got drunk it was off a sip of champagne at new years eve when i was 3 haha! the first time that i was a drunken mess and threw up everywhere was my 13th birthday. i'd been drinking for a while before then, and carried on getting wasted every weekend till i was about 18 when i met my boyfriend. i turned 21 the other day and i don't really even drink now, not regularly. i don't go out with the intention of getting drunk anymore anyway.

My dad is a HUGE wine snob, like to him a $50 bottle is "the cheap stuff," and when I have dinner at his place, I usually get to drink stuff WAY out of my price range, like half a week's paycheck. On his wedding day a few years ago we split a $900 bottle and an $800 bottle. That shit blew my mind.
But anyway, since I was little, my dad tried to instill an appreciation of wine in me. I'd pretty much always have just a sip of whatever he was drinking. Then one night when I was about 6, my folks had a dinner party, and I just walked upa grabbed my dad's glass like usual, except instead of a sip, I took a big gulp, I guess to impress his friends or something. Except it was Scotch, not wine. Cask strength.
Well, that turned me off of alcohol completely for a good 10 or 12 years. My freshman year of college, I had a few beers, mostly when I was at punk shows and a friend would ask me to hold his drink while he did some dumb thing, and I'd get tired of holding it, so I drank it. Didn't like it.
So while I was never actually opposed to drinking, I didn't actually start drinking on the regular until I was 22.
damn, I need to learn to not ramble so much.

Dad used to rub peach brandy on my gums when I was cutting teeth.
On my own accord - capt'n morgan around 14 years old. To this day I can't even smell that stuff.
That and Aftershock/Avalanche.

Funny I thought your Dad was a beer connoisseur for sure too, not wine a wine connoisseur. My family had wine with nearly every meal through the 80s. But nothing too fancy for dinner, mid grade table wine. I however still love wine. There is a winery out here and I go by and buy a case now and then. It is probably the only alcohol I enjoy drinking alone. Wine drunk is happy to me.

I had some Everclear moments like this in high school. And I can't even smell Gin now. It was my reg drink, after 10 years not drinking, and I overdid it one night. I was carried out of the bar which only happened to me once all my life. I remember not being able to open my eyes as my friend carried me past the door and I heard my friends that worked their being really concerned. And some how I lifted my hand to give the thumbs up.

My dad's long time favorite beer is Miller High Life, and maybe a Corona ever now and then. But he LOVES my homebrew, and surprisingly he also likes the really hoppy IPAs that I sometimes bring over there. For a while he traded in the High Life for Sam Adams and Wild Hop Lager (which is Budweiser's organic beer). I don't being him beer often enough to quite entirely change/improve his beer habits.

I was around 12 or 13, jesus christ really? I remember it was in around 7th grade and we were at this kid's basement, then after the first sip we partied regularly throughout middle school, who the fuck else partied through middle school, it was me and my friends at his older brother's high school parties, shit was dope, free drinks aplenty, and as of now I turn 21 next year and have dranken in various spots and at least four bars, damn I got lucky, thank you lord for blessing me with many spots to drink underage and only get arrested for having booze in my car, only for it to be expunged, also thanks for never letting me die drunk driving, appreciate it.
