last year I called around & there was one shop that was fixing up cheap bikes to sell to people for the weekend. I want to say it was around $30-$50 or so. He said it'd just be enough for the weekend and then to just leave somewhere around town when it's over, definitely seemed the way to go. too bad i can't remember which shop it was.

I just emailed a couple friends who work for The Kickstand to see what they're thinking about rate-wise.

I know they are a fairly new place and still going through their parts and etc to try to make some more bikes useable.

I'll get the scoop and report back.

The scoop is, they don't know yet. So, be on the lookout for info.

the nice part about this location is you can scoop your bike up at a show and drop it off post-show at the end of the weekend, since its a venue too.

i wish someone would invent a bike that could be taken apart and carried in airport luggage. i'm sure someone's already invented something like that, but i bet it's mad expensive. something like a hardware bag for drums and a big roundish bag (like a cymbal bag) for the wheels. that would be perfect, especially since the people i'm staying with thurs-fri aren't far from gnv.

QFT+!

I've wanted my bike in so many travels, but it just wasn't realistic. I want it for Austin City Limits in a couple weeks, but I'll just have to rent one.

If you've ever seen the bike rack at ACL, you'll understand why you don't want to have to try to remember what your bike rental looks like.

thousands of bikes.

Most people on my campus skateboard (I've seen one ride a unicycle) around to get to classes. You could always buy those shoes with built in roller skates.

Biking is what I was thinking I would probably do also, I hope one of these shops will rent or sell one really cheap to me for the weekend.

I think they only have 12 bikes, they will bring them to the Holiday Inn parking lot in a truck. I'm sure they'll go fast.

Fees are still being decided.

(edited for updated info)
