They're nearly indistinguishable, I think a couple places in Gainesville might have Murphys on tap. uh that would rule. that is good to know too, because I miss Irish Car Bombs. and I can make vegan irish cream mahself. hmm. anyway, three cheers for delicious beers. Vegan Irish Cream? whiskey + soy milk?
coconut milk actually I haven't tried it with the chocolate syrup in it, but I should. but yeah, google it, there are a few recipes for it.
1 can coconut milk
2 tbs brown sugar
2 tbs chocolate syrup
2 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup whisky (or to taste!) I suggest Jameson's.
Instructions:
------------------------------------------------------
Combine all ingredients thoroughly using a whisk, but do not froth. Keep
refrigerated, preferably in a dark bottle. Old 'Bailey's' bottles are ideal!
Note:
If your coconut has separated into solid and liquid, be sure to mix or blend
thoroughly first into a completely smooth liquid with no lumps.

well, I'm not vegan, but it does sound good, I love coconut milk. The chocolate does sounds like it would make it too sweet though, maybe use half a tablespoon instead of 2 whole ones.

Further demonstrating my beer nerdery, here's a post I made on my local Ocala board earlier today, in response to someone talking about Yuengling getting rated B-.
____________________________________________________________
I prefer www.ratebeer.com and even that I only use as a general guideline most of the time. Some great beers get underrated, and some crappy beers get rated too high.
They rate Yuengling Lager in the 31st percentile (which means 69% of beers get better ratings) and I think that is way too high. Their Black & Tan get 44, which is still too high, but I'd say in comparison to the lager, sounds about right.
Keep in mind that I pretty much don't usually drink anything rated lower than 80. maybe a few beers I like dip into the 70s.
some comparisons, and my assessment of those ratings. All of these are available in Ocala, most of them at Publix.
Budweiser- 1 (it sucks, but there are way too many shitty beers out there, it shouldn't be rated THAT low)
Miller High Life- 2 (well, I guess maybe it is better than Bud, but only because it's totally tastless)
PBR- 4 (that is WAY too low, should be around 30 or 40)
Killians- 23 (this is almost where I would put Bud, so maybe raise Killians to 28 or 30)
Natural Light- 0 (this is correct)
Steel Reserve- 1 (also correct)
Sapporo- 10 (that's about right)
Blue Moon- 46 (that is too high, but not by much)
Hoegaarden- 88 (this is the beer that Blue Moon tries to copy, I'd rate in the mid 70s)
Guinness- 82 (sounds about right, maybe a little higher)
Brooklyn Lager- 79 (pretty on the nose, bump it up a little, one of the best Lagers easily available)
Sam Adams Lager- 62 (I'd rate a little higher, upper 70s)
Sweetwater 420- 73 (about right, this and PBR are the worst beers I actually like enough to pay for)
Anchor Steam- 71 (it's better than that, at least upper 70s)
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale- 90 (see, that's too high, it's about even with Anchor Steam)
Bells Two Hearted Ale- 99 (my favorite IPA ever)
Great Divide Titan IPA- 96 (right on the nose)
Rogue Dead Guy- 83 (about right, maybe a little bit higher, VERY easy beer to get into, even for people who are used to pissy yellow macros)
I really miss drinking in bars. Anyone want to go out to Tin Cup or The Ocala Wine Experience some weekend?

beer snobbery, the new scene.
though, in unpretentious news, i bought a coconut, threw it into the oven for like 20 mins at 350f, and used a screwdriver to peel the meat right off the shell, after i got cracked it open of course.
it's quite tasty...but hardly any coconut juice - well less than i remember anyway.

tonight i went beer shopping, and i got a bunch of different stuff. figured i'd cast my net on some new bottle too, which means that right now i'm having some of this:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/12142/44627
Good Times Ale - "refreshing on the palate thanks to microscopic fizz, while the zesty and flowery hoppiness also serve to elevate the whole drinking experience. I feel that malts are quite negligible in the flavour profile, or, should I say that, they are blended in too well, offering a solid platform for the flowery & citric elements to dance freely? All in all, this is IMO the best golden/pale bitter produced by the Williams Brothers. Delicious, balanced, never boring and thus a quaffable ale."

My love for American craft beer reigns supreme over all other beer, but I do have a strong appreciation for traditional English ales. Damn, right now I could really go for some Moonraker.

Oktoberfest officially starts this Saturday.
Tomorrow I'm gonna try to buy some Ayinger (one of the best un-official Oktoberfest beers) then this weekend I'll get of the Official Bier.

I live for Sam Adam's Octoberfest every year. Speaking of, I need to drink some right now.

uuuh that threat reminded me that I will have to drink 2,5 weeks american beer,... coming orginally out of bavaria - that will be hard, also I guess there will be no chance to get a good Weizen (wheat beer with bottle fermentation) at all...

FUCK.
I hate that Europeans don't know jack shit about American beer.
Not all Euroepean beer is like Heineken, Becks, St. Pauli Girl, and Carlsberg. Why do you assume all US beer is like Bud, Miller and Coors?
We've got beers here you've never dreamed of. I'll find you your bottle fermented Weizen. But you have to bring me some bottles of Agustiner Oktoberfest.

hahaha... I do know that is possible to get okay beer in the states and probably even good one, but I guess most of all not in every store and even harder at shows and it will have its price..
let me know whats the best one is to get at the venues... not sure if bringing a couple of beers to the states is currently a good idea, already had ten years ago a lot of questions about it when I brought some to a friend and things didn't get easier after 9/11...
I already have fear about the immigration, I have a 2 hours stopover in chicago before my connection to Tampa... It alraedy took long years ago before 9/11 and now they take your fingerprints and so on...
