Does the legal guardian have to be a parent? if not how old do they have to be?

usually they're appointed by the court if they aren't your parents. I don't think there is a minimum age.

Sorry, I've tried to cover the underage questions several times but I'm not certain. May be different from venue to venue as well.

PJ???

you need them to register, would it matter about the venue if you've registered?
because i can find a permission slip and get all the stuff signed, i just need to know who could take me/can't.

the issue of having one "parent or guardian" for several unrelated youngsters raises some interesting questions.

Can a parent designate soemone like an older sibling or friend to be responsible for a minor that weekend? or this person who is responsible for several minors HAVE to be the parent of at least one of them? If that's the case, then what if someone who is 21 brings their 5 year old to the Fest, does THAT then give them to authority to also bring a few 17 year olds?

I'm hoping that most of us 21 year olds at Fest dont have a kid at Fest. Haha, that'd be a major bummer. It's my first Fest being of age, and im really stoked about it. It's about damn time. I'll be any underagers designated guardian though, as long as they're going to the shows i go too, and if they lose me im still going to the show i want to be at. Im not babysitting, Im getting them into shows.

Im not buying beer for them, im just getting them into shows, so, they can go to Fest. I wouldn't risk my Fest pass for anything.

It's like my grandfather always said, if you're old enough to die for your country, then you're old enough to have a beer god damnit. And to hell with the Japs.

I've always just taken the second part with a grain of salt.

I just like the idea that reproducing instantly makes you responsibile enough to vouch for people almost your own age.

Please remember that this is a venue to venue thing. We would love everyone of all ages to be able to come and enjoy the Fest with us. But the bands gotta play somewhere and the only places in Gainesville tends to be bar/venues that have some age restrictions.

Can a 21 year old get a whole group of 16 and 17 year olds into Common Grounds? Probably not.

The FAQ says:
If you are under 18 you may be admitted if you are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian also must pay to attend. You may have one parent or legal guardian for a group of minors. So, if your mom and dad want to take you and your five best friends to THE Fest then they have to be responsible for all of you. It would help at some venues to maybe bring signed permission slips from every parent with contact info too.

This makes me think your older brother won't work. If you are really concerned about this just call the venues and explain what your situation will be and they will tell you what you need to do to make sure you get to see the show.

Common Grounds (352) 372-7320
The Atlantic (352) 264-9844
The Venue (352) 374-4114
Market Street (352) 377-2927

Also, Durty Nellie's is going to be involved this year and they are 21+ only.

I grew up in Gainesville. That means I spent ages 15-17 trying to sneak into shows then 18-20 trying to sneak drinks. Believe me, I know this can really suck.
